    Whoa! News to me O_O

BTW if anyone is still having trouble with the game crashing:
    http://www.saveonepiece.com/prototypes/Keg...r%20Chaotix.exe

It works well for me now except when I try to play as Wechidna or whoever he is. It should work with all versions too

This is what most people seem to say, but *where* does this come from? Is there *any* official source or is it just the same old conjecture that's spread all over the internet? He had pretty much nothing to do with SonicCD but it's using "his" characters and "his" code...

    That's because Sonic 2 didn't exist yet.

To get back on topic here, have you guys seen what Mighty does when he wall kicks? It's very interesting, and it's "automatic." Another thing to note is that the sound effect when he clings to a wall is different. (It's Vector/Espio/Knuckles' sound when they cling to a wall.)

Sonic 2 didn't exist at the time Sonic CD was started, if I'm recalling the timeline right, but Sonic CD was released in 1993 - one year after Sonic 2's release.

Yeah... They could have changed the graphics before release, if they wanted. After all, Sonic 3 started with Sonic 2 sprites.

In the bonus stage, the ring counter doesn't drop, and this may be the proto that may have been handed out to the "Unknown Preview" scan on Sonic CulT

    Forget that.

Yeah, but weren't Sonic CD and Sonic 2 done by two completely different teams? They might not have WANTED/been allowed to use the other team's stuff. Though spindash IS a shared concept, the SCD method uses a totally crap way of doing it that was never used again.

I prefer the SCD spindash over the S2 one, lots.
Though I'm not really happy with it either. My favourite spindash would be the Shadow the Hedgehog one. (Too bad it was useless in that game simply because Shadow accelerated too fast on his own.)

    Back to discoveries.
The cutscenes before the bosses are fully implemented in this proto, although the boss music starts directly in the cutscenes instead of playing "Have Some Fun" song.
    Some bosses are also implemented:
Botanic Base: Implemented, stops music though (may have been an emulation error, although sounds played).
    Marina Madness: Fully Implemented.
    Techno Tower: Fully Implemented.
    Amazing Arena: Not Implemented.
    Speed Slider: Not Implemented.

    Time can't go up.
When you clear a level "Mechanical Dance" song plays instead of "From Party to Party"
Training 0 stage may have been use as an Engine Test level because it isn't like the other training levels and in the final it's replaced by a copy of Training 1.

They could have, but that's a complete pain in the arse, and they probably didn't think it was worth the bother. Its unlikely that they wanted to and were told they couldn't.

I always assumed the old sprites were in the early versions of sonic 3 because the artists hadn't finished drawing the new ones at that point in time.

Seriously, I cannot stand SCD's spindash, mainly because I don;t bother charging it up in the rest of the games past one or 2 very quick button taps...

Agreed, it's so crap that I never bother with it, to the point that I keep forgetting it's even there.

So, I ported most of this info over to the wikipedia. That is all.

Wow, this tread has stagnated for over two years? That's crazy! Anyways, I'm new here and all (Had an account for a while but never felt compelled to contribute until now) and I just wanted to say that I'm 99% sure there is another prototype before this 1207 one because, well, WAY too much stuff changed between this and Crackers. I'd like to help find one, if possible. Maybe we can start this thread back up? Thanks guys!

Well there would have been loads of builds between Crackers and the 1207 build we have, it's just if they are in the hands (Or even exist) of people who are willing to sell them.

drx has mentioned that a pre-1207 proto does exist, and according to him even includes Sonic and Tails.

I haven't seen such an image myself and searching through the entire thread here, I found nothing. If it exists, is there a possibility of it being posted here in the thread for our viewing needs? Because I'd certainly love to see it.
