Happy Birthday Sonic Retro! I have high hopes there will be more birthdays to come! Not to ruin the moment or anything, but Anniversary would probably be more actuate.
Congrats on 5 years of... whatever the fuck we do in this place anyway, here's a random doodle which has no relevance to birthdays I made a couple years ago, enjoy.
Even though I have been around the Sonic Community since May of 2003, the SWS2B Board started in December 17, 2002 (Back when Simon was in charge), but it didn't open to the public until January 10, 2003, and the first member to join the forum is LOst (Even though he is listed as Member #3, while Simon was listed as Member #2), and Sonic Retro started in September 14 (Today), 2004 as the SSonicNET Database, which was founded by our very own Alexbt.
I've been lurking since SWS2B, and only registered last month. Why did it take me so long? Here, have this image that has nothing to do with this topic:
So, 5 years... In a little under a month I'll have logged 10 years of time into this community myself. God damn it. Oh well, good to see places are still going strong.
I did a lot in the past five years.....can't say much for this place..... UH OH I guess this mean I get T3H ! Happy Birthday Sonic Retro!
Happy belated Birthday Sonic Retro! If only I was here those 5 years ago... but I didn't get internet access until last year... oh well. ^^
One year more to the world's greatest Sonic site. I wish I could celebrate with a dinner of onion rings from a Sonic fast-food place, but sadly, there's none around where I live.
Mikel covered most of the details, but there's one thing missing: The InsideTheWeb Board! I'm pretty sure it was before the Anyboard; IIRC Simon moved from InsideTheWeb because the "post new topic" confirmation page started to become filled with ads or something. SSonicNET was probably the first version of Sonic Retro, yeah; I vaguely remember that name as AlexBT's [Yes, you did write it that way. Back in the day.] hosting service for SClassic? I didn't know much about all of this until around 2006 when all I knew was that Sonic Retro was the name for a group that was to contain Sonic Classic, Sonic Hot Dimensions (Becky's site), and Area 51. Something-or-other happened to Area 51, SHD and SClassic didn't get along all that well, SHD left, and for awhile there Retro was just SClassic and the wiki. Later I think SS got fed up and took the wiki with her and SClassic tried to revive yet again (cockroaches, I tell you! cockroaches!), either returning to the name "Sonic Classic" or changing to something like "Press Start." I was spending more and more time around SWS2B during all of this so I really don't know. Eventually Simon disappeared, SWS2B became S2B (or S2Beta I guess, but I mentally keep that name for the pre-SWS2B/SClassic split), Retro (the wiki) merged with S2B (the site & forums), a year or so later Retro (the site) ate the remains of SClassic and became Perfect Retro, and here we are today. Am I missing anything?
I remembered seeing that site years ago but didn't bother to look in it. D: So, Happy Bleated Birthday, Sonic Retro! *pulled the party poppers and made all the popping noises and confettis*
Don't eat the cake... It's a lie! Happy birthday Sonic Retro. I thought very poorly of this place a few months ago and as of late I have liked it. So... wheres the booze?
Happy Wooden Anniversary Sonic Retro! Teriaaaa... EDIT: And it's my seventy-fifth Retro post. How appropriate.
