There were rubbish scans of this buried in a topic somewhere - I'm not going hunting. Wonderful human being, Akane, has been adding scans of Beep! MegaDrive for a while. Here's one you've been waiting for: https://retrocdn.net/index.php?title=File%3ABeepMD_JP_1993-07.pdf&page=118 p.s. as you might expect these magazines are filled with information that desperately needs translating and documenting on our wikis. They're very good at solving problems, like, here's that SegaSonic Arcade prototype at Summer CES 1993, and look, a new Sonic CD prototype.
Are those 3D renders of badniks or just pictures made to look like 3D models? Because if they are 3D renders then they look really amazing.
I'm just using a google translate app and paraphrasing here: Check 1: We've learned Sonic will travel through time. We don't know how this will happen. Who could the enemy be (who else is there other than Eggman?) Check 2 isn't coming out good enough but the magazine is speculating that bad future little planet is a fortress attached to little planet based off Palmtree Panic's background. Check 3 is just Amy information we already know. "Who was that pink hedgehog we showed in the last issue? His sister? Girlfriend? No just a groupie. What role will she play?" Check 4: There's a time attack mode? Does something unlock if you beat the best scores? Check 5: Toei Animation is working with Sega on the opening. Here's a storyboard image. There might be some value in the art assets they got from Sega or drew for themselves but that's just a lot of speculation to fill a magazine page.
You guys are giving Toei Animation as a whole too much credit. It's usually pretty useless to judge animation quality by which studio's name is attached to the product in the Japanese animation industry. What matters is the specific key people behind the animation which the magazine conveniently lists, too. Director: Yukio Kaizawa Animation Director: Hisashi Eguchi Art Director: Shinzo Yuki Anyways, really glad to finally have scans of this. I'll probably look into translating it if no one else does and when I'm done with other things, though most of these kinds of Japanese magazine articles usually boil down to "OMG CHECK OUT THIS BRAND NEW THING THAT'S GONNA BE IN THIS GAME IT'S CO COOL!!!!" so we may not get too much info we didn't already know.
Well Sonic CD used to be called CD Sonic, so I would assume so. However this is only in the earliest prototype, which is Prototype 510.
