In before Clockworkroll. On the serious side, just a note, the video frame size in the ssfv is based on whatever the highest rendered size is, not one of the arbitrary video standards, but it just adds borders instead of stretching, so you can have size issues with the bios if running a 704x480 (Real 704x480, not stretched 352x224 with borders, SSF just renders big.)

This is a builtin function for SSF using its own custom codec (which I can guess is specifically designed for this kind of work, eg lossless and low cpu usage), it's pretty much the exact same thing as AVI logging in Kega Fusion. You can set keyframes and some other stuff in the ini files of ssf.

The only real difference is that you have to use AviUtil instead of Virtualdub to convert your movies (both apps do pretty much the same thing, but AviUtil is japanese, so...).

Doesn't really handle different resolutions nicely, but there's not much you can do about that. Last time I tested this (maybe a year ago, don't remember), hires games were truncated to half of their resolutions, but I really don't remember if thats true or not.

All in all, not much of a discovery.

Oh, okay, I just didn't see this info in the mainstream eye, so I figured I might as well share it. I am just curious though, can you port the codec to a installable codec, I looked at the aui file in a hex editor, it seems to be a Windows DLL, it just doesn't have an inf. As for AviUtl, I packaged it with a config file that is already set to English, for those who are to lazy to change it themselves. I am curious though, anyone here know how to write a generic inf for a video codec?

  7. I've tried recording some stuff with this but it loses synchronization around 1 minute into anything. Does anyone know how to avoid this?

It has to do with the fact that the video is ripped frame by frame straight from the thread, yet the audio is ripped from the audio card, thus, any lag along the way is shown in the audio. I really don't know how to fix it, it just depends on how fast your computer is, although you could play with some speed functions in whatever video editor you have.

    Yes, get a quadcore.

  10. I've got one. Every game I've tried with SSF runs 100% perfectly. Recording doesn't work so well.

Well, I don't know what to say then. Are your settings optimized with what Borisz's page says? That could be the problem right there. I have a dual core yet I was still able to pull this off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh4voYvvC-E I would have done NiGHTs, but it has some flashing issues, as in the VDP1 has issues, although last time I tried I may not have had it optimized.
