    Hey fellas!

First of all, it's already finished, download at the bottom of the post.

So I have to credit two people for the inspiration, GeneHF with the JPN~PAL looping project and Taxman with his looping oggs!

And why am I the retarded one remaking something already done? I think the big work porting the game took most of the time that is necessary to loop songs that weren't projected to loop, like CCz and MMz for example.

Well, the OST in Taxman engine was encoded in a low, not too low of course, bitrate, so it's very fine for playing with speakers but if you have a nice earphone/headphone, you can tell its somewhat's not nice, like if it has been encoded to ogg from mp3. Altough the OGGs are VBR quality 5, they sound really crisp as they were all encoded from FLAC, even on an audio editors the waveform is very well preserved! In fact this was made with another purpose too but you'll know on the right time (I don't want to ruin the surprise! sorry!)If you have any better looping idea, just try making an example file and I'll add to the list and credit you! This songs can be used on anywhere, it would be nice if I got credit, but I can't require it on something that I don't even own :V.

Here is the download link. SONIC CD USA LOGG

You can play LOGG (looping ogg) files on Winamp and foobar2000 with the vgmstream plugin and it needs these DLLs (read the readme inside any release zip!).

Also! If you have any criticize please I'll be fine to hear, if you have a suggestion for a loop enhancement, please do upload an example file of the transition and you'll be credited.

Sorry man, But Covarr already beat you to the punch a couple of months ago :P He looped both the Japan and US soundtracks in LOGG format.

In fact, you may be talking about this post. Well as I said, he only took Taxman's loops and added the loop tags to them. I rebuilt every loop from scratch seeking for the most unoticeable option, if you look at the file modification dates, I started the loops on december, in fact before Covarr posted his LOGGs. And they are very nice indeed, thanks for his effort anyway. It took me more than a month trying to make those loops, download the pack and take a listen :).

Call me dense, but I honestly don't hear the difference in looping between yours and Covarr's. :/ But now, Retro has a companion to the JAP & PAL Project. Maybe you could try adjusting the Logg files for the JAP tracks. Covarr did a good job on those overall, but the loops didn't seem to be in the right places to me.

I've actually been working on putting the JPN/PAL Project into .logg. I was looking for a different file format as well so that they could be inserted into games as well.

The .loggs will be different from the ones up on the wiki, since I made those to emulate a more soundtrack style than in-game use.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
What I did was a rush job, with the deliberate goal of using Taxman's OGGs and loop points, so that what you hear is precisely what you'd hear in-game. The whole point is that it's pretty much official. If Master Emerald wants to redo it from scratch with the goal of higher quality sources and smoother loops, I certainly don't object. In fact, for all intensive purposes, I far prefer these for actual usage; they just don't mean as much in terms of preservation.

Hell, I can't really even take credit for my work; all I did was feed in the loop points that Taxman flat out gave me. This seems like it took actual effort.

edit: Afro Thunder, do you have good headphones? Listen closely; even when the loops are pretty much identical, the sound quality is much higher in these. That alone makes it worth it. And a few of Taxman's loops were at good points, but the samples didn't line up correctly; it's almost impossible to hear unless you listen in slow-motion, but technically incorrect.

    OK. All different files:

Palmtree Panic Present (more drums on mine), GF (more drums) and BF (loops to the start).

ALL Collision Chaoses loop now (they previusly had some invert restarted),

Tidal Tempest Present BF and GF doesn't use the part from the CD, which looked like a reworking of the zone music, instead of an part that was cut,

Quartz Quadrant Good Future has more portions used for the loop than Taxman used, the Bad Future doesn't use the part of the CD because it just seemed an ending for the track, not an uncut part,

Wacky Workbench Present doesn't use the part of the CD for the same reason of TT,

Stardust Speedway Present has a crash cymbal originally on the loop, GF and BF extended with the portions of the CD

Metallic Madnesses all loop properly now; they had a reverse cymbal and restarted, also made GF louder,

Boss and Final Fever loop now (they faded and restarted),

    DA Garden loops seamlessly now.

Yeah! And I actually have your loops here, the JPN loops are pretty much perfect xD

But of course! It's one of the easiest ways to make my sister rage; sane people usually just get a bit of a laugh.

  10. You're listening to music wrong if your headphones sound better than your speakers.

I meant the speakers that come embedded on the TVs and gadgets, any nice set of speakers is better than headphones :P

PS.: If anyone want to try enhancing a loop, they're welcome!

I just upgraded to foobar v1.1.11 and installed foo_input_vgmstream-r951.zip, but the following tracks don't work:

    Palmtree Panic G
    Quartz Quadrant B
    Wacky Workbench B
    Stardust Speedway G
    Stardust Speedway B (nooooo!)
    Final Fever

All the other LOGG files work fine.

Any ideas what might cause this..?

Did they work before the update?

Well you can try changing the tag for looping. In the Comments tag it should be LOOPPOINT=(loop sample).

You can create a new tag called LOOPSTART=(loop sample) and paste the value to see if it works.

vgmstream didn't work at all before, it said "Failed to load DLL: foo_input_vgmstream.dll Reason: Wrong version number; this component appears to have been built with newer version of foobar2000 SDK, please download latest version of foobar2000 in order to use it. ". I was on v0.9.5.6. So I had to update.

I don't know why that would do anything, the other tracks all work fine, and looking at the header in a hex editor reveals nothing particularly different about the non-working files. Also, foobar's tag editor doesn't seem to show any tags for the LOGG files at all.

To edit the tags you have to rename them to *.ogg.

And how would one go about using this with the Taxman port?

It's not usable with anything. Just with JukeboxCD a tool that mutes CDDA on Kega an syncs the loggs, but is not released yet.

Ah, I thought this could be added to the Taxman port or something...
Well, I'll have fun with it anyways.
