So am I the only one here who thinks at least Roger Craig Smith, Kirk Thornton, Kate Higgins and Mike Pollock are perfect for their roles?

Sonic no longer sounds like the empathetic, emotional bitch that he was in Sonic '06 and Secret Rings (Not saying that Jason Griffith was bad in Unleashed though, I thought he performed the role fairly well for once.). He sounds cocky and full of energy, just as he should. I also think he is easily a better VA than Ryan Drummond was. It seems that nobody here remembers just how corny he sounded reading his lines.

Tails never should have had an actual boy voicing his character. Every couple of years they would have to change his voice. Kate Higgins fixes this, and doesn't make Tails sound too much like a five year old Ash Ketchum anymore.

Mike Pollock has always been the perfect Robotnik, there is no disputing this. Deem Bristow showed anger as his only emotion Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and he was good at it, but he didn't seem to be able to display any other emotions.

Kirk Thornton as Shadow sounds less tryhard edgy and now more of a sinister "I don't give a fuck". The Transylvanian tone he has also helps.

Thoughts?

I still love how we now have Colonel Roy Knuxtang.

Oh, uh, Sonic/Tails/Eggman are damn well-done, too, yes.

I pretty much completely agree. I personally think the biggest improvement is the new Tails voice actor.

Good god, Amy Palant sounded really bad at times. Kate Higgins completely blows her out of the water as far as V.A. is concerned, and just suits Tails much better in general.

I really like them, most of them are FF voices too.

Kirk Thornton makes Shadow sound like a combination of Mummymon and Saix, which I like :)

I've only heard Sonic and Tails extensively, since I never played Free Riders (and have no intention to, the Riders series are one of the Sonic series I don't care for, the other being Storybooks), but from what I heard from the Generations stream, Amy's voice sounds a tad annoying with the repeating voice clips. (in b4 Eggman's "More the merrier" quip *uuuuggggghhh*). Honestly, I'd love to see how Quintin Flynn's done Silver, myself (again, besides Free Riders). But from what I have heard, I like.

My favorite is Don Shadowpatch.

I'm not that big a fan of Sonic's new voice, admittedly. Having said that, I definitely prefer Roger to Jason. Tails is fine, Amy's annoying as all heck but fine. Rouge is great. And I'm sure I needn't mention Mike Pollock's greatness.

Yes, Mike Pollock really enhances the crazy dialog Eggman's had these past couple of games ("No, I want you to get me a cheeseburger and a shake [/sarcasm]") I forgot to mention him

I must say - I love all the new voice actors... except for Shadow's. I feel Jason Griffith had a greater hold of the character than Kirk Thornton.

That said, Kirk is still quite good, and I enjoy every other change- they're no longer nearly as annoying. Kate Higgin's voice in particular made Tails a character I care about again.

Also, Mike Pollock is supreme, and always has been. This is why Eggman is my favourite character and if his Classic form's in generations, I don't mind him speaking with his voice.

Mike Pollock is the best Eggman ever. He's capable of being silly and fun like Long John Baldry, and dark and imposing like Jim Cummings, while not sounding too far off from Deem Bristow, maybe a little more high pitched, but the way he talks is dead on. He carries the character over from Deem Bristow's take and evolved it into something more, something we can't really say for the other characters.

Apart from Amy, the current set of VAs is the best the series has ever had. I'm not even used to Sonic's voice yet and I still keep imagining him talking like Griffith, but every time he speaks now you get a real impression of his personality. Cocky, fun and overall a nice guy. He sounds older but that's not really a bad thing. The main thing is that he sounds cool. Rouge gets the award for best voice though. Lani Minella gave her a really good voice in the SA2/Heroes, but the acting was iffy. That's especially bad considering she was the director too. From ShTH onward she sounded like a drag queen. Not a particularly bad drag mind, but ugh. It didn't suit her at all, so when I heard her new voice in FR I was thrilled. Once again it's a completely different style to her previous VAs, and really seems to play up the whole sexy side of her, and then instantly snaps into bitch mode whenever the script calls for it. Blaze is really awesome now too. More or less the same as before, but better spoken, like you'd expect of royalty. Silver's also similar, only now he doesn't sound like he's whining all the time.

Shadow's a bit of an oddball though. While his voice is brilliant, the acting in FR was all kinds of terrible. Everything he said was slurred, and there was some serious scenery chewing going on. It's odd because he shares a VA with Orbot now and there's no acting problems on his end (while I'm at it, the new Orbot is fantastic). Still waiting to hear Charmy properly too. His original VA was too girly, his 4Kids one was rubbish and she never sang. From the little clips you can hear in Colours DS his voice is great, we just need confirmation that he'll sing.

And whoever decided to keep Pollock as Eggman despite replacing the rest of the cast deserves a medal. They should have it taken off of them for replacing Lisa Ortiz as Amy though...

No need to play the game, just catch the cutscenes on Youtube. Here's all of Team Rose's scenes. You can hear every one of the new voices in there:

Also Team Dark, Team Babylon and Team Sonic.

Wait a minute, I just realized something. Travis Willingham voices Knuckles. Laura Baily voices Blaze. According to a wikipedia page I read, Travis and Laura are married. OH MY GOD, KNUCKLES X BLAZE IS CANNON!!!

I can hear some of Serah Farron in Blaze, and a tiny bit of Sora Takenouchi in Charmy. But that might just be my imagination.

Where'd you get those clips from? That's awesome, better hear those in generations, along with "BAH He's not going to get away with this!"

They're fine by me. Glad they changed Sonic's voice. They could have just changed his and I wouldn't have cared.

So long as Silver manages to avoid drowning, I should be cool.

Mike came on my podcast Destroy All Slackers and we asked if he could say those and I just snip'd them from the show. He told us he was pissed about the whole snooping as usual thing because he didn't know what it was about until AFTER.
