The running on the ceiling thing did confuse me a lot for years! To me it does feel unintuitive to hold left while running right, but upon further consideration, the alternatives would be even worse, so I don't think there's anything to do about that.

As for being crushed, yes, it can be pretty annoying sometimes, but you can't simply replace it for a loss of rings and call it a day. If a moving object (say, one of the big blue blocks in Casino Night) crushes Sonic into a corner, there's nowhere Sonic can go, there's no space for him to be while the block finishes its movement and bumps back. Having the block bump on Sonic instead of the wall could throw off the synchronization between different moving objects, and there'd be no easing of the movement as the block changed direction, so I really can't think of a way to make this work, visually.

Even if the PC version does leak I don't think I'm gonna risk installing a shady pirate version that may be incomplete or full of malware. I've waited this long, I'm not gonna risk ruining things because of a few days.

It works at 4:3, Taxman already said it does.

Oh, I must have missed that, then. I wonder how this will affect gameplay. Will boss fights that happen with a locked camera scroll? That could be a problem in FBZ's boss, where the spikes that hurt the boss are so close to the edge of the screen and you attack from the opposite side. What about cutscenes such as the one in GHZ act 2, which has characters near both sides of the screen? Guess I'll have to wait and see...

I can't wait for the PC version to unlock so I can do a CRT SD run. Gonna live stream it, too. And capture the footage on a real VHS tape using a real VCR, just like I did as a kid.

That'll be awesome! No reason why it can't also be done with the console versions and an HDMI to composite converter though, right?

Modern consoles cant output 640x480 at 4:3. A converter like you describe will letterbox.

Do we even know if the PC version will be able to output at 4:3? I figured it would be wide-screen only, considering that a narrower aspect ratio could affect how camera locking and boss arenas work, among other things. If it does work at 4:3, at the very least you'll lose part of the sides of the image, meaning you'll have less time to react to enemies and obstacles.
