Wow, nice one Rika, this is awesome! Could you scan in the cart so we can see what it looks like?

Just imagine the standard Genesis Sonic 2 cart.

Where might this Area 51 be?

I'll be more than happy to add it if there's a button image for the forums.

I played a few levels (concretely Emerald Hill and Death Egg), and found no noticeable differences. Sonic 2 is not my favourite game though... I should try to view the hex code too.

By the way, could you LocalH update the links on your signature? I am a registered member at Area 51, and sometimes go to lurk the topics (LOst please don't delete me...)

Oh forgive me LocalH, the deal is, we have two links to the Area 51:

http://www.projectne.../area51/forums/

http://ssonicnet.com...orums/index.php

And both are right, don't matter.

Sorry, we could not find a member called Heran_Bago, are you sure it's correct?

Area 51 hates me good.

I've noticed how many of you guys use the term "rev. something" for the version number. Well, it was only used by GoodGen in the old days so I guess there's no need to use it anymore.

No, we're calling it that, because that's pretty much what it is:

Quote

6: Product code and Version number:
* The first 7 characters are the product code
* The 2 characters after the hiphen is the version number. This will
vary depending on the the type of ROM or software version

Well, since it says version, I guess that must be the correct term. The "revision" stuff was made up by Cowering and isn't something you'd see in any official SEGA documents, as you've just quoted.

EDIT: By the way, there's so many small things that were changed between v00 and v01, even where the data isn't shifted. Would it be possible to make a disassembly of just the changed stuff so you could choose between both versions when compiling the ROM?

Bah, version, revision, same difference. The way I see it, major changes should denote a different version, and minor changes should denote a different revision. Besides, what I quoted from wasn't actual Sega documentation anyway (although it may have been written with the aid of the same).

Um, a bit off topic, but I can't access A51. I keep getting a 403 error. Could someone look into this?

Made no difference... Still gives me the error.

It seems to give me the error just on this computer. Was I IP banned or something?

First you have to locate all data over again. Then you have to disassemble the game, and do everything over again. It takes time.
