Bethesda's beta testers should read this. Maybe their games would then increase in quality and wouldn't result in the necessity of being fixed by the fans.
Testers in AAA games are often shoveled in the last 2-3 months before release just so that the game company can wash their hands. When you have games that on absolutely every single playthrough you encounter game breaking bugs, you cant really blame the testers. In that light, to have people that are paid to test games NOT go through the whole game while 30+ million people are dying to have it is a bit... unrealistic.
Those bugs we all hear on the news are not bugs that were simply not detected by the test team. They most likely were known even before that. Its just that the programmers didnt fix it.
Now why didnt the programmers fix it? Its either a mundane environment where you are encouraged to do the least amount of work possible and not stand out OR that the programmers are passionate about the work but the managers simply impose on them impossible deadlines or working conditions. I've seen people been made to make games for an OS that they cannot even try if the game run, because there is no such device in the studio or the manager is lazy and forgot his Apple password. doh...
