With a contributed effort (so far) by Luigi Link, myself and Cyan Helkaraxe (directly, though everyone contributed indirectly) the first history of the Sonic Secrets Community has been forged. Now it is being released to the public with an invitation to help us out in this ongoing project. If you have any substantial events that we're missing, e-mail us and we'll interview you. If we left you out under the "members" section, tell us the era's you've been in and we'll add you in as well! Even documents, logs, websites, etc. would be helpful. We're not trying to make this by ourselves, we're trying to preserve our history so people can learn from it and know where we've been.

Without further ado, I present the document. Please realize that it's not complete and there may be spelling errors, but the information is accurate.

Why did you listed Kurai twice in the member lists?

Interesting read... what a trip down memory lane :P
Good job, I see you guys have put a lot of work in it.

Here are some of my suggestions:
    1. Timestamp each era?
    2. Make people's quotes stand out a bit. Now it blends with the rest of the text. Try using another font for quotations.
    3. Put chat logs in an appendix

    Several missing events:
    1. Dezmond's hacking attempt
    2. Saxman quitting SSRG
    3. Everything about The Moogle Cavern

Overall it's still excellent because of the amount of info in it.

There're some raw materials at http://s2beta.com/random/communities_stuff/ , you may want to have a look if you haven't read them.

And I bet those at SClassic aren't too happy with what you said about them...

In any case I look forward to your next update!

Actually, they haven't commented on what I said about them. It was accurate, so they shouldn't complain =)

I can't grab stuff on MC, because I never went there... I've been wanting to get info on it, but they seem to have separated themselves from this community or something. I don't recall Dezmond trying to hack... though at the time I was most likely not interested. I have some of what was the community stuff that you mentioned, but certainly not all. Thanks for the help. This is turning out quite well. I'm hoping to prod Andre for some info soon...

And I fixed the Kurairyukakumei mistake ;)

Info on MBs of early 1999: (right after Simon put up the site)

SoStH MB: Full of flamewars and secret Sonic discussion. Mostly flamewars.

S2B MB: Full of discussion and G-

Sonic Pandemonium MB: Full of flamewars with SoStHers who invaded with guns ablazing.

The Area 51 and MC MBs were still in their infancy and not popular at all really. It was after Simon left that they really exploded with activity. But those three above were the main MBs until around... oh, fall 1999.

And, if you haven't noticed by this sort of detailed account, yes, I was around then. ;D (right around when Simon started the site is when I showed up) I believe KnuxFive was as well ... Can't remember when Gold Sonic or Blaze (hedgehog) showed up.

Not to brag, but (okay, I guess it is to brag...) I also created the first true debug savestate. I believe AJ (Freda) had created one that was a sort of "pseudo debug" where you were a ring and could move freely, but once you hit B and turned into Sonic the screen scrolled upwards and you died. So, I took out HexEdit and copy and pasted the first 100-some lines of a Sonic 2 level select savestate with debug enabled on top of the first 100-some lines of a Sonic 2 Beta savestate without... and got lucky. It worked. Uploaded it... and there was much rejoicing. (the timestamp on the file says 4/4/99 ... I think it's the original.)

Simon left in August or September, as I think you know. (not sure which, but hey)

Also, I would list the Moogle Cavern as a legit Sonic secrets MB until around... oh... maybe early to mid-2001. It was the only real home of hoaxes for a long long long time (due to SoStH being pretty much dead, S2Beta losing all its hoaxes with Simon gone, SP going down after a few attempts at revival, etc), and it had some good secret Sonic info for a while. Unfortunately, Kulock and updates don't like each other very much. ;D
And when the site stopped updating regularly, it dropped out of being a secrets site.

    Anyway, good job. ;P

*spots his name* WOOOOH!!!! Wait... "not that often"? Ok maybe I didn't post often back then but now I do post more than I used to back in 1999. Especially because, in 1999, I remember I have suddenly disappeared from the boards for a good 6 months. Anyhoo, pretty good! *thumbs up*

Do you have anyone to proof read it? Would you be offended if I went over it and sent you back any fixes I've got? Just textual stuff, because I really don't know the story. Spelling, grammar, etc? I don't mind.
