Megaman 2: The Robotnik Wars, Unnamed S3&K hack
About 4 years ago, my brother and I bought a collection of breakout games for the PC called "Break!" by eGames. One of the breakout games in this collection was a unique breakout game called Break GOLD! What was unique about this game was that it allowed the user to make a custom level pack using x86 68k asm scripts. With this feature in mind, my brother had the great idea of making a Super Mario themed breakout level set, while I had the idea of making a Sonic based levelset. Interestingly enough, it was this game that taught me the basics of 68k assembly, which I have found to be quite useful in making Sonic hacks :).

My fangame "Chaotix CD" is the result of this idea. It was made about 4 years ago, and I never finished it, until I decied to tonight. Therefore, the code is slightly messy since I made it when I was less experienced, so don't critizise too hard :P. The fangame consists of two level packs, the first based upon Knuckles Chaotix, and the 2nd based upon Sonic CD (which is currently in the works). For the Knuckle's Chaotix half of the fangame, the goal of the game is simple: to finish all of the levels. In order to finish a level, the player has to either collect all rings, defeat all enemies, find the exit, or defeat a boss. There are also monitors, and other things, which can be read on their purpose in the readme. Installation instruction are also in the readme in the .rar

A demo of Break GOLD! can be downloaded here, and Chaotix CD part 1 here. Enjoy! C&C welcomed.

EDIT: For some reason, attempting to link to the actual photos on imageshack auto-capitilizes an "I" when it shouldn't, messing up the case-sensitive link. This is probably a Retro problem, as I tried fixing it several times. Just change all "I"s in the link to lowercase, and it should work. Sorry for the inconvience.

Might want to check those links for the images. The thumbnails seem to work but not the actual pictures themselves.

Looks like the "I" between the /'s just needs to be lowercased and then the pics work.

    Thanks a bunch, grammar censors.

A better solution is to just post the full images. They'll automatically be sized down by the forum once they're loaded fully.

EDIT: Actually, now that I look at them, they're not that big. They probably wouldn't be sized down much if at all. Whoops!

ImageShack's new game is to try and force you to visit their site to view images, preferably logged in so they can monitor what's going on. Direct links for life. And I don't buy the arguement that it's bandwidth concerns... seeing as you're now loading up their site as well as the image.

Though I did notice people are slowly shifting to Imgur which does what ImageShack used to do... except that it deletes things after six months. All really tedious.

I'd actually like to see a video of the game in action.

Darn, wish I knew about that before I joined, too late now :(. I have enough online accounts for things, so I'm not migrating to another image hoster. Well, it's better than having no pictures at all, or forcing you to visit my blog to view the pictures :P. The fact that it can host videos is at least a plus. At least I made the good decision of using MediaFire for file hosting, which I find to be a very nice uploading site.

I have posted 3 videos on the first post, check them out! They aren't the greatest quality, but its better than nothing (making videos is NOT my speciality).

You don't need an account to host on imgur, it just lets you organize them.

Huh, so I guess that I wasn't the only one making a Sonic breakout game :). Speaking about SAGE, maybe I will enter this game for this year, or maybe CCD2: SCD, which will be way better and cleaner in terms of coding. Hope you'll like it, just don't be too critical on feedback, since it was made 4 years ago by me, and finally picked up and finished not too long ago. Don't forget to read the readme, + - especially since it tells about 2 cheats for skipping levels/warping to another zone

If you think these levels are complex, just wait until I release a demo of CCD2: SCD. The levels are quite complex since they have a working "time travel" system (!). Despite the complexity, I have conciously made the levels to be easier than CCD1. I will maybe post a demo soon of CCD2: SCD, along with screenshots and videos.
