Knuckles in Sonic 1 - Rev 01

    I hate to say it, but I am not noticing said "bonus feature" so I take it it's not what I think it is. even with all emeralds. Somebody PM me to sort this out please

    I checked the ending. It looks fine to me, I did enter the level select code, but I put in the emeralds cheat first. I really don't care, just thought I'd bring this to attention.

    I loved the hack!
    I have some suggestions as a player\tester.

    One of the things I first noticed is a debug glitch. In the orginal for instance, in GHZ act3 under the waterfall with the boxes of rings and 1-up. The area down there is lower than the of the act and if you debug to the right then screen auto-fixes itself to make it go up. (To prevent visable cut-offs) Your hack does not do that. When you get to Robotnic, you won't be able to see him if you don't look up.

    Another thing I noticed is that the buttons are not as touch sensitive as S&K. Meaning you have to wait untill knuckles is completely crouched down befor KTE can preform the spindash.


    These are just two things I noticed right off the bat. They may seem like tedious things but it's what keeps it from feeling completely authentic

    Usually after ten days, the topic has sunk to the bottom and probably requires nothing more added to it. In this case, the bump time was a month.

    This is what I call Wing Fortress syndrom. This is where you go up when a hill but continue when the hill has stopped as well visa-versa. This only happend once while playing around but I wanted to point it to your attention. One a note, I'd like to add how much this game feels like sonic 2. I'm going to take a guess that you re-wrote the speed instead of porting stuff from S2 because they fixed the WFZ syndrom in the s2k.. I have seen alot of similar bugs in this that were in S2.

    This happens when you are climbing when the elevator is going up.

    Let's talk about these pictures. I understand that you had to fix the speed problem in the first picture because in the orginal sonic would have died. But fixing that problem appears to have glitch the rest of the game. Picture 2 happens when you go all the way through MZ act1 and you climb back over the wall and go to the ring box room. Which totally backs my suggestion of building the wall. and the last one speeks for it's self but I would like to add that knuckles should NOT be able to climb the barrier.

    Sorry for the double post but not all the images would appear as one big post. But this isn't about a number under my name. Anyways, here are a few suggestions.

    This stuff is minor and is more of suggestions than glitches.

    The sheild is still blue. In S2K it's grey as is the box sprite.
    Lack of 1-up with 50000pts (NOTE: This would increase you're 1ups but a suggestion is to remove all high point end level bonus thingys.

    This is located GHZ act2 above the twisty ball thing next to the sign. It's acessable and should have a box up there.

    S2K has alot of hidden boxes added in chemical plant. Knuckles can get to extra places so it would be ok to add some extra stuff. This leaves the game to be explored. And this is located on the upper sign level in SYZ act2.

    This isn't important but just to let you know that you can't do this in the orginal.

    This is located in MZ act1. There should be an item up on that ledge. Maybe move the sheild or put some rings there. Also, you can climb to the top and totally skip the level and you can do it for all 3 acts. It's cheesy. It would put more excitment in the game if you blocked that off.

    This concludes my suggestions.

    Wouldn't say it was bitching exactly... To the point though, I'll grant.

    Let's face it, just porting Mr. Echidna into Sonic 1 was a feat of the Gods in itself. Every hack that's ever made won't impress everyone. Someone will always have an idea that they think will improve the game, and others will think that idea is shit.

    Stealth is not Sonic Team in one body, nor is every hacker on S2B. These hacks will never be perfect unless someone gives up their day job, and who's gonna do that in reality? It's a hobby. A good one which is much, much better than stamp collecting.

    Who knows, maybe Stealth will issue a new version of this hack? But give the guy time. I've played through Knux in Sonic 1 twice, and noticed ten or maybe twenty gugs, glitches andd errors. But they don't detract from the gameplay that much, if hardly at all. I feel that the unfortunate thing is that we here at S2B want bigger, better hacks all the time. So when a new hack comes along, be it something monumental like this or a simple palette hack, we'll play it and actually look for bugs, kinda like a film critic looking for continuity errors.
