First dust hill is really the desert level -- that's cool.. but now we're rehashing other theories like the "master emerald"? Goddamn.. let me pull out SoStH's old theories and let's analyze each of them one by one =P YEEHAAA

EDIT: Next one up is Wood Zone is actually the past version of Metropolis Zone. Discuss.

It totally is. No other levels have conveyer belts so they must be. This is my justification.

And I swear I read some bullshit "fact" once upon a time that said the tubes and belts weren't functioning because Eggman hadn't finished building the Metropolis yet. Making outlandish claims to cover your lack of real knowledge is fun!

However, it was stated that her email address was public for a short time, which might have led to a flood of emails asking about "Dust Hill". I always had problems with this theory. First off, generally when someone gets a LOT of emails, they just stop replying to all of them, however, she still answered the original email, which to me suggests the flood can't have been as severe as originally suggested.
Yes, it was, this is not a "theory". I had sent her a well thought interview already and she told me about the flood of emails, and that she would only answer one (which wasn't the first one she received, anyway).

Um, I'm pretty sure Time travel had long been removed by the time the Simon Wai prototype was completed. Perhaps the level map had already been drawn up as a past version of Metropolis Zone but they were probably gonnna adjust it so the similarities were minimal.

I think it's safe to assume the time travel concept was never implemented other than in sketches and concepts... I always had the belief wood zone was intended to be the past of metropolis, but for all we know is no more than a random theory. Perhaps we could confirm it if we ever get to see the actual concepts and sketches of these zones...

Now somebody discuss about the gray Sonic death frame present in all Sonic 1, 2 and 3 =P

Well and music :P I guess that's what got people thinking. The other thing is that they share a similar colour scheme, Wood Zone is brown and green, and Metropolis is metallic green and bronze(metallic brown). Coincidence?

Of course Wood Zone came a lot later into the rom, but it was probably concieved much earlier on.

Are we sure the music thing isn't the same case as the Sky Chase music in that other empty level slot, where it's just carryover from splitting up the Sonic 1 level slots? It doesn't seem like they'd use the same music for two Zones in any other context, even if they were related by time travel or whatever.
