I don't think they're missing the opportunity of adding multiple paths that make the levels less linear.
If I remember correctly, the latest City Escape footage with Classic Sonic shows another path with rings in the background, which seems like an alternate way to go.
There was stuff in the Gameswelt video that I didn't remember seeing during the E3 playthrough, even before the truck comes along to destroy parts of the stage. There is an alternate path with a red ring right before the truck starts chasing you, and the path to it seems to have started a good ways back.

I realised something. I asked mate to order me Sonic Generations on GAME (The Special Edition) and my account is the US one. Do the free things on the game will work on my account or am I able to use the UK acc too and then I can play the Sonic Casino level with my US acc? Did not think of that earlier and I got quite worried. Do us people get any of those free stuff too? I know Gears of War things I am unable to redeem.

If it doesn't have any sort of C®apcom-console-like DRM (99% sure it won't), you can redeem the stuff from a uk account, and play the game normally in your usual account.
EDIT: Oh it's the 360 sorry, I don't know, however this is true for PS3, in case someone else is interested.

I agree. And it'll be a shame when they don't cross the characters (because let's be honest, they are different ones in terms of gameplay) into each others levels. Let's just hope the main game's as easily hackable as the demo, and that we'll see such cross-over videos turn up soon after release.
I rather expect the two Sonics to be playable in each others' levels. It would just be too easy to do, and I remember Sega saying around the time it was announced that you'd be able to play the whole game as either Sonic if you wanted.
So I spent $10.98 on the Sonic toy for the avatar item, apparently it's just the moto-bug "toy" not a "pet". Why does Sega lie to me?! (The avatar item itself is around $2 (or $5.99 since you need to buy 400 points.), I spent $10.98 on it, I could have bought another cheap XBLA game with it...but whatever.)
Also, I pre-ordered Generations while I was there so...that's something, right?

Is it the same Motobug toy from the S4 set of items then?
I was going to post that since I saw it at SSMB earlier but that video annoyed the fuck out of me and I forgot it. I asked him if he could just upload the same video only without his idiot commentary, his response:

Trust me it's a bigger pain in the ass for me to make another one.
It takes hours to render the file, then hours to upload it. It takes less than a second to mute the video.
I see the commentary as necessary for this video as it instructs how to get the spin dash to work. I'm not saying it isn't annoying. Hell I was surprised at how loud I was. I actually edited it to make it quieter before uploading it.
I remember Sega saying around the time it was announced that you'd be able to play the whole game as either Sonic if you wanted.
I assumed they just meant "you can play through only classic Sonic's levels if you like", similar to how it was said you can play through Shadow the Hedgehog without using any guns (you technically can...but certain stages require them to move on, so you wouldn't be able to get every ending).

You're both wrong. The exact quote was "You can go 80% for one sonic the entire game if you wanted", but you still have to do 20% of the other sonic minimum. The "real final level" will probably require both to be 100%'d though. So there was no point in them saying that anyway if that's the case. Just Sega PR speak I suppose.

Yes. Except you get a Toy that people will probably never use! I guess I could just sell the toy on Ebay in 5-10 years...
EDIT: I wouldn't feel so bad if they actually put "Sonic 4 Toy Moto Bug" and not "Pet Moto Bug".
