So apparently if you order the soundtrack from junsenoue.com right now it'll come autographed by Jun Senoue himself. And first 50 get a guitar pick. Autographed things are cool.

  2. I remember him doing something like that when The Works and The Best of Crush 40 came out.

If anyone's interested to have the Generations version of the Egg Emperor theme in Sonic Heroes (PC), I .ADX'd the track based on Ashram's rip and tried to loop it to the best of my ability. download link
Put into <path to>\SONICHEROES\dvdroot\bgm\ and overwrite the SNG_STG26.adx present, then challenge Egg Emperor and enjoy~

No your not. I can't honestly say that I find any of them an improvement over the originals.

  5. I thought the Endless Mine reference was all on Alex (CASH CASH)? And for some odd reason, every song from Sonic 3 is now just given a SEGA tag. I asked Jun on this and he said he was barred from talking "about early projects like Sonic 3 and Formula One World Championship." Just why the hell is SEGA and it's employees so reluctant to talk about it? This clearly goes beyond MJ, with the mentioning of the other game.

While I haven't listened to it yet, I am extremely disappointed to hear the remix of Super Sonic Racing lacks the advertizement clips. That was one of my favorite aspects of the song. I guess people could always combine versions but it seriously sucks SEGA took that out.

Have I stepped into the fucking twilight zone here? I've seen this soundtrack get nothing but praise, and then suddenly a couple people jump out of the woodwork totally condemning it. Really blows my mind... the music in this game is fantastic and it honestly pisses me off to see people completely and crudely dismissing it.

Sky Sanctuary, Crisis City, Metal Sonic, Perfect Chaos, Speed Highway, City Escape, Seaside Hill, Chemical Plant, Death Egg Robo, Biolizard, Rooftop Run, the menus, and the hub area have all had their themes excellently rearranged/remixed. What the hell were you expecting?

If people don't like it, that's all good. It's their opinion and it's a respectable one. There's a lot of remixes in the game that I don't particularly care for either so the soundtrack is not entirely gold standard. To them, it just means every mix isn't good.

On an unrelated note, damn did the soundtrack orders go quick on Senoue's site. Good thing I managed to sneak in and get one. Brofist to Sonic Stadium since I saw we're the first two trackbacks.

Pfft, yeah right. There are some duds, like the Shadow theme, but like hell am I going to find an opinion that thinks the soundtrack largely "sucks dick" is respectable. It's a shitty opinion, plain and simple.

Not even Seaside Hill Classic? I feel like something about the remix just sounds more precise and less 'mushy' than the original; it does feel like an improvement to me. Perhaps it's just Richard Jacques sprinkling his magic over things (I do like most of the tracks he was involved on).

Exactly..I managed to snag one too because of TSS. I'm glad that the possibility of getting it on iTunes it kept me from preordering it; I'd rather have a physical copy signed by Jun Senoue any day.

I never said it sucked hard hairy cock, I said that I don't think that the remixes improved over the original tracks. The Cash Cash and Cucuit Freq tracks are awful, Senoue's tracks as usual are a bit bland and too guitar heavy, Hataya and Jaques tracks are ok but I prefer the source material. If you like it then I'm glad you found something you enjoy, there is no need to get panties twisted over other people's opinions.

EDIT: I really dislike Seaside Hill, so listening to it in any form, is something I'll avoid. I couldn't stand to listen to any of the Seaside Hill remixes all the way through.

Indeed, while I don't mind the Circuit Freq. mix of Open Your Heart, that's only because it sticks fairly close to the original. I can't stand the CF remixes of "Vengeance is Mine" or "For True Story" and personally am baffled whenever people say they enjoy it.

I'm not trying to knock anyone here, as I'm genuinely curious, what musical genre is it and have I just not heard enough of it? It just sounds like mindless noise vaguely assembled to resemble music with a drumbeat. It's interesting, but I would have really enjoyed some chord structure on top of it. Granted, while there's at least some semblance of music in the original song, it is pretty damn repetitive itself, which is why I was further hoping they'd really flesh it out. That Olympic Games mix was just enough of a remix to keep me more interested, for instance.

Again, I'm not trying to stir anything up, and would love to gather other thoughts on those.

Those are the worst offenders to me. Hearing the 3DS tracks really does feel very underwhelming - not quite enough remix to stand out against the originals. The filename in Generations HD of "Title_Long" was bugging me so I'm glad the short mix was included. Besides that, overall it's still a pretty great collection.

Actually, I'm a bit more intrigued by the 3DS' End Roll Medley arrangements than the in-stage versions. Go figure. :v:

I've noticed this too. I thought Sky Sanctuary Act 2 stood out, as it turns out because of Jaques' involvement. There's all these extra little accents and quips in the track that aren't normal for Senoue. It's like he's actually gone through and done a pretty decent, thorough job with mixing and volume levels and it pays off much for the better compared to Senoue's standard fare. Heck, the main melody of GHZ Act 2 hardly stands out against the brass section, and I'm amazed that wasn't noticed by anyone on the team.

It certainly makes it easier for those wanting to get it signed by everyone involved, like Ohtani, Tokoi, Jacques, and Cash Cash to name a few. Senoue's the big fish of them all, though.

I know that now, I even pointed it out myself once. I just needed to make these things known, even if the EM bit may only be considered a sample and Mission 4's composition info might just be copypasta from Mission 2 that wasn't corrected.

We should at least count ourselves lucky that we already have so much of Senoue's work figured out already (and BTW, Senoue is the only one of the Sega crew with specific BtL credits. They apparently came from a site that now only exists in archives.)

Development-wise, here's something I just now picked up on the other day: there's TWO versions of the unused boss theme from Sonic 3D

    819 version (no timpani)
    825 version (with timpani)

According to ICEKnight's hack, the very bottom song (1D?) (which is that same boss track) was composed by Senoue, and arranged by Setsumaru [just like the final version of Boss 1]. Looking at these versions, it's clear what Setsumaru added: the timpani. That same timpani was also added to other songs that are definitely his arrangement.

Given all of this, S3's 1-Up must also be Setsumaru's arrangement because it has that same timpani and Senoue's composition because of his reuse of the theme in 4 despite making a new set of Title, Invincible and All Clear themes for Sonic 4 (he could have easily made one for 1-Up). Come to think of it, Sonic 4's version lacks the timpani part from S3 as well, just like the S4 boss theme.

Wow. Out of all of the tracks, that is precisely the one I hated the most. Go figure.

Let me guess: you hate Chemical Plant Act 2?

Eh, it's okay...it didn't stand out for me like some others. I never cared for CPZ too much to begin with. I take it it's your favorite remix in the bunch? :P

Oh, and it turns out I was #52 of 100 to order the CD.

Bummer. I was #80. However when I replied back to confirm the address I had asked if he got the other email I sent regarding the autograph and I got this within the reply:

Unfortunately you were 80th and no sticker with your order but with a pick.

So I take that as No sticker but you get a pick. Hopefully! I really want that pick. >/

I just love how this soundtrack makes me like even all the tracks I never really liked all that much, such as CPZ, CNZ or Speed Highway.

Also, CPZ Act 2, Radical Highway Act 1 and every single boss theme are definitely my top favorites here. <3

This track isn't on the CD but I'm still curious about it. I heard that Mission 6's music (Vector's mission) was a remix of another game's track. anyone know what it is?
