Didn't Sonic and Elise have a vague recollections about what happened too though? There was a wistful look. Maybe they can almost remember not quite, like with the cracks in time that showed up in Doctor Who.

Yeah, it was a feeling of Deja Vu, meant to signify that there is a link between the two characters despite never meeting in the current timeline.
