Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie 2 is a Russian fan project that is targeted on animating the sequel to Sonic OVA/Sonic the Movie 1996. The creators of the movie are Zarumo Team. The main goal of the team is to make a good Sonic movie to get the licence from SEGA to do official cartoons in the future.
Those are some cute attempts, but I can't say that any of the trailers match the anime style they're (most likely?) trying to follow... Maybe they're aiming too high with a full OVA sequel project? I'm thinking the short format already seen on these trailers might work better for them, seeing how there's some different styles going on. In any case, there's some nice work in there, so congrats to the team on getting these done!
I... uh... is this a joke? Credit for the effort but... what? This is nothing like the Sonic OVA. It's just a really strange and uncomfortable concoction of elements from the Sonic OVA which should not be calling itself a sequel. Seriously that second teaser what the hell. I don't think I need to elaborate on it.
I think they should make it clear if they're trying to match the OVA style. I wish them all the best though, and it'll be interesting to see more.
I'm honestly just grossed out at the amount of feet in the trailer. It felt very unnerving. Does one of the animators have a fetish they want to talk about?
What the hell? XD This is really funny. I'm looking very much forward to this coming out. It looks like it'll be really entertaining. The only issue I have with the second trailer is that the movement seems very... slow. I like the kind of 3D models (the feet thing is weird, though), but hopefully they don't move as lethargically as they do in this trailer. Other than that it looks like it'll be a fun little thing to watch.
First trailer was enjoyable when I first saw it. Not much like the OVA, but still pretty decent. The second trailer though... uhh yeah. Doesn't feel anything like the previous video or the OVA, and also the feet. No man, no.
Well, this is more polished than most fan attempts at creating Sonic animations, you have to give them that. The humor is a little weird, and that barefoot nonsense is weird as fuck, buy hopefully they'll come up with something less awkward for the movie itself. I don't think we should expect something in the exact same style as the OVA, considering that animation techniques and aesthetics changed a lot in the past 20 years. It looks to me like this team is competent enough to create a movie that's technically decent, it's the story and the humor that I'm worried about.
Cringe cringe cringe. Only thing that stopped me from cringing more is that I didn't have to audibly hear it in a language I understand. Animation isn't... bad. But it's weird and slow in a way that feels uncomfortable. And nothing about it feels OVA. Their dreams of the Sonic license might be aiming a liiiiiittle way too high. EDIT: And yeah, the feet. This fanbase gets really weird.
The animation style in the second trailer seems strange, is it 3D models with cel textures? The emphasis on feet is really uncomfortable too. />
as a furry foot fetishist I would like to point out that these aren't hedgehog feet, they're duck feet. I hope that you will take this feedback into account and if you do I'll be sure to cover it on www.furryfeetyesokay.com. but seriously what huh why the feet and why is everything first done in CG and then rotoscoped and just
Question: Why is the animation quality in these videos pretty terrible? Answer: Because the people that made them are amateurs and aren't very good at it (yet?). This thread will now repeat itself until everyone gets bored.
I mean, the animation is okay for amateurs. I just don't really get the point of rotoscoping when you can create a similar effect through cel shading or something with far less effort.
Finally gave this a watch and seriously? People call THAT animation terrible? I think some just have too hight standards for animation especially made by amateurs and are blinded by the feet fetish to see that models are actually very faithful to the original designs and animated well (albeit awkwardly slow). At least I personally would love to watch a full blown movie with this style and quality (minus feet of course) even though judging by the trailers writing is pretty bad. Visuals alone would sell this movie for me.
If you're only interested in the visuals then why not just watch the original OVA? Also, nobody has actually called the animation bad. Most people just called out how weird the feet fetish stuff is.
I don't understand why this goes to the specific effort to show everyone's feet, and to make them look so freakish at the same time. The thing is, I don't want to call this whole thing bad because there's clearly a lot of effort gone into it, but... it's not great. The animation is weird and slow like everyone has said. The rotoscoping just doesn't work out with how blatant it is either. The effort gone into this is blatant. But it doesn't come together, sorry.
I'm hoping for a trailer that shows off the plot. What's in these trailers is sorta meta-cutsey stuff, but the OVA is such a specific thing to call back to that I'd like to know what's up their sleeves. If the final product is a referential and meta as these then I dunno if I'll care for it. Animation is odd but I've certainly seen worse. And the foot thing.........yeaahhhhh.
