-- General Art --

Post only what does not fit into a specific zone's thread. The current zone focus is Hill Top Zone .

Again, this is meant to be an art topic. It is not for bickering over the project's direction or artstyle. If there's something you feel compelled to bring up, PM a staff member and someone will field your concerns.

I made a signature for the contributors/fans:

Shouldn't we have 2 seperate versions then? one with "contributors" beneath it, and another with "fans" - or will that just confuse things?

Bah it's just a little logo =P. The distinction is already done with the achievements thing, that can be used by the staff too as they have the Staff achievement!

So, what's up with all of the previous awesome contributions? Should they be reposted here?

If the answer is yes...

Gambit's menu icon

The Growler's monitor effect

Master Emerald's shield (with lighting)

Options menu background by wangle

Just to point out a very small few.

More than likely they have been redone and finalised for the alpha. It just that we haven't seen it on this side of the community. Anyway I've seen much better mockups of those from later posts in the archived thread.

Don't have to be, but if you want to point out a few things that accurately show the art direction you can.

Really? Maybe the monitor effect, bet thew rest I believe were the final or best versions posted.

Anyway, my main concern is really more towards new contributors remaking things that may already be considered final. Wouldn't it be good to list what is needed or at least what is not needed?

That's the whole point of these new forums. This is a subject that has already been discussed. That's why there is a Hill Top Zone thread and a Special stage development. If someone puts up a mockup that's already been finalised behind the community. I'm sure the HD staff would tell us.

I'd rather not waste the person's efforts and get their hopes up only to be told it's not needed when they never had any clear indication of what is or isn't needed in the first place.

I don't feel like digging through the old topic about it so I'll just drop it.

It's already been stated in the Community Project Targets what needs to be done. It's up to people to read it. If anyone does art that doesn't need to be done then it's their own fault for not reading things up.

That's excellent Flare.
Just like the broken pieces, those glass shards are a very nice touch!
My only suggestion is toning down the light glare on the glass (especially the topmost reflection).

Pease feel free to provide the source file so I can store it on DB! wink.png

What about the monitor's red light? I suppose really it should be turned off if the whole thing is destroyed.

BTW Vincent, once the monitor is completely done, will that mean I'll need to re-do the flickering animation effect? The effect is relatively easy to do actually, it's just the timing that can be a pain.
