Sonic Heroes was alright. Definitely not worth getting the PS2 version, though. Unless it was like $2 though I don't think I'd ever re-buy it.

I downloaded the PC version out of interest after a long period out of gaming in general, and it was the first Sonic game that I turned off out of disappointment. If it was around 2/3 pounds I'd probably buy it to see if it was as bad as I remember, maybe even around £4 as a 2am 'I'm-Fucking-Bored Impulse Buy', but that much for a bad port of a bad game is ridiculous.

Forgive my asking, but what exactly is wrong with Heroes as a game? I enjoyed the fuck out of it on my Xbox when I had it. Sure, it had some cheesy dialogue and some of Chaotix's missions were a bit questionable, but still, I thought it was excelent. It was using classic tropes (Seaside Hill has the Green Hill checkerboard, for crying out loud), using a classic formula (2 acts, collecting chaos emeralds, boss at the end of each pair of acts, etc) and the only real different thing was that it was in 3D and featured 3 playable characters at once.

As for this, I remember trying the PS2 version briefly after playing the Xbox version and I distinctly remember turning it off after a couple of minutes - it's really noticable.

It's level design is fucking terrible. You are permanently suspended over a bottomless pit on a narrow pathway, where broken level mechanics often send you to your death.

Lol at some people implying this game is even remotely good.

It has it's moments and is a fun time waster if you know what's up and how to handle it properly. It is by no means good, however, don't get me wrong.

But I must echo the PS2 sentiments here: Do NOT EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES play the PS2 port. It is god damned nigh unplayable. Sonic 06 is easier to play than that mess. I am dead serious here. :(

If you're that curious check out either the PC or GC versions, as they handle the best out of all of the versions.

Eh, I like it. It had glaring flaws (some excessively long levels [especially toward the end], control in the special stages, having to go through the same levels 4 times, and about 5 of Chaotix's missions), but none of them were enough for me to stop enjoying the game. I've never run into any glitches in this game either. I'm not kidding.
Now the 2 3D games following this were a different story, but anyway, I never thought Heroes was bad; in fact, I'd even say it's a great game.

Not to mention the fact that these problems extend themselves to each Story play through; It's incredibly boring going through almost the exact same stages and acts, in the same order, with the same issues, Four times.

I had some fun with Heroes, and there were some cool moments, but there are many more frustrating problems with that game.

You mean 7 times. The stages repeated themselves. Only Team Rose didn't run through the same level geometry twice.

In retrospect, I should have thrown Sonic Heroes in the trash can too. I only remember being frustrated with how horrible the game's pacing was. On a good day, I always want to stop playing by Power Plant.

And don't even get me started on some music choices, especially after listening to old E3 proto tracks.

I remember getting that for $2 at Best Buy.

It's Virtua Fighter, I'm not terribly great at it, but...

Oh yeah, VF4Evo is one of the best fighting games money can buy. If you don't have it, GET THE MOTHERFUCKER. Training modes resemble a boot-camp, but you'll be thankful - a LOT of depth in the gameplay, and it'll prime you very nicely. Also, it primes you quite nicely for the slightly-disappointing VF5 if you haven't already got it; should be in bargain bins everywhere because philistines everywhere can't appreciate VF. For shame.

  14. Heroes was honestly kinda bad. Mixed music, cheesy as FUCK cutscenes, Metal Sonic's design, another giant monster final boss, Sonic goes super and you expect Tails and Knuckles to follow suit but you just get a glowing ball, broken game mechanics, drab level design, poor voice acting (even in relation to Sonic Adventure), boring use of classic tropes, most bosses were robot storms, enemies didn't have that nice crunchy feel when you destroy them and they had HP, unnecessary use of puzzles revolving around having three characters, and more

The game is just fundamentally flawed. And seeing a release of the PS2 version as-is isn't terribly exciting
