@corneliab, I've only just noticed the face of Captain Vidya in that Robotnik sprite in your sig, and now I can't unsee. Damn you!
The totem guys seem to be underwater-only, spewing out direction-shifting currents or something. The Kolibri-looking badnik jumps out of the water a la Marble Garden Grasshopper style (he may shoot out lasers or something). That's what I got out of the screenshots anyway.
While the level designs and everything's looking nice, I wish they'd find more creative use of the homing attack than friggin' Bubbles chains. Hell even using a different badnik would be slightly less lazy.
I've seen it above ground acting the normal way. Too lazy to fish through all the footage to find it though.
I've just watched that OXM video on the front page and Ken says that the throwback level is still to come. I really thought that Sylvania Castle was the throwback level with it's rehashed art from Aquatic Ruin and Marble Garden but this is not the case. The level is going to be from one of the original 16 bit games and apparently the story makes for that zone to come back. So guys which one do you think will come back? by the way it's going to be from the original trilogy so no zone from Sonic CD is going to make an appearance.
Sonic CD R2. On a serious note, it makes sense for something from Sonic CD to be remade. After-all, SEGA's marketing strategy s to link the stories of Sonic CD and Sonic 4: Episode 2 together.
And they'll probably add some awful gimmick like turning it into an arsed up and dull version of the Rayman Origins shooter levels.
It could be a submerged Death Egg maybe. Or just another out and out rehash like Episode 1... just because.
Considering the plot of this game is "Eggman is rebuilding the Death Egg around Little Planet" I'd find it very hard to believe that the game doesn't end there. Thus, the final zone is Death Egg or the zone before the final zone is Death Egg.
EGG Station Zone looks like some weird colorful UFO thing. I don't thing they were meant to be the same thing.
But if you look at it chronologically, Robotnik's ability to make space faring equipment / bases gets better every game. The original Death Egg in 2, then the repaired Death Egg in 3 (but I bet he made it better in many ways, I mean, why not?) not to mention the frigate-looking-thing and the upgraded Mech you fight in Doomsday. In Unleashed, he has progressed to build a massive fleet, and then in Colours, goes on to dominate several worlds and tether them all together. Egg Station may be rather large, but it is probably a cakewalk for him after building the collosal Death Egg in 3 along with a bunch of other space worthy things. Finding Little Planet in CD (if this takes place after / before / during 2) must have filled Robotnik with ideas, which he finally realises when he has the chance. But I might be wrong, what with Dimps taking a dump on the series.
Can you imagine if they really did that, three acts of clouds with boosters and springs. Honestly if a DIMPS zone like that ever came to pass it would be the ultimate troll to it's fanbase.
Well, if they're not planning on releasing an episode III, I guess the "little planet / death egg" arc will end with that episode, so we may have a Sonic CD level throwback after all...
