This is my first hack. I recolored Sonic, changed the music, and created my own zone. I hope you like what I have so far

    Known bugs:
The true background won't work, so I'm just using the sky background.
Most rings won't appear. You have to rely on monitors.
    No lava.

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
You color choices seem odd at best, but I'll be sure to give this a try.

While it seems like you might have something going with the level art, those giant, garish blocks of nuclear green completely throw it all out of the window. Might wanna find a better choice for those.

You've got a good idea going on here, but those palettes are horrible. It wouldn't take much to make them contrast less than what you've got there. I'll possibly make an example later, but try playing around to see if you can get something more visibly appealing.

It also wouldn't hurt to have posted those screenshots at 320x224, would it?

Colour blind? That's no excuse, really though, I know one other individual with brilliant art skills who's colour blind around here. (I'm not just saying that) [Edit: not talking about myself here either]

The colours are very weird and some are slightly off-putting, that sky though is cool, dithering is good, and the colours work for those clouds too. But really, there's nothing more I can say that hasn't been said:

    Mainly that. Good luck though.

It's unique? Increase the amount of colors that make up each object though. Everything seems to be made up of 2 colors or less.

What a fan-fucking-tastic post! I sure am glad we have valuable members such as yourself to lead this community by your wonderful example! Thank you for pointing out the vast amounts of homosexuality in this hack as well, I didn't notice anything regarding it myself. Clearly I have missed it. Seriously, is that all you can say? Fucking worthless.

To Arctic: First of all, I'd read something on Color Theory. You don't seem to understand the significance of color combinations, and your contrast and general use of color is quite bad, to be frank.

Your art is a bit simplistic, but interesting. I think it would be cool if you redid all of the art assets, as your current style doesn't mesh well with the art of the original game.

Personally I think those shots look funky and cool. It's a completely different style, but I like it.

After playing on this for a little bit, I think it's safe to say that the colors are infact, too bright. I would suggest toning it down just a little bit, it was only really a problem when I tried to do full screen. Rather than that I can say the level design is pretty darn good and it looks like a fun hack. I look forward to the next version.

At a quick glance it did hurt my eyes, but. . I actually kind of like the title card. I 'unno. I find it's cute, to be honest. The colors are kind of harsh, but still, it's got some potential, and I as well am looking forward to seeing a next release. I think I'll download this one and give it a shot, the screens look kinda' neat.

(Not really feelin' Sonic's palette, though, but it's still nicer than anything I could ever pull out of my ass, haha. Good job, buddy.)

I guess the biggest issue with my hack is the contrast in the palettes. After all, this is the first zone I ever created, and I plan to make 5 more. I'll try to fix this in the next version. Maybe I was trying too hard to be original and creative.

From the pictures I like the art direction but you might want to fix up the palettes a bit. It's an interesting idea though. I like the title cards btw

I really like it! It totally feels like a different game. Good ASM work, sprite changes and level design, and yeah the colors are crazy but I feel like that was kind of the point right?

At first I was going to sarcastically tell you that recolors are lame and that the palette is making me colorblind, but I see an underline creative level design.

You got talent kid, but rusty around the edges though. Now don't screw it up! fix the palettes, change lolrecolor back into normal sonic (or just make a alternate version for us who just want to play as sonic), slow the music down!, and fix up your art assets to match the games overall art assets I don't mind unique as long as it matches.

Good luck in your future endeavors, I'll be keeping an eye on you.

EDIT: Why is the invincible theme the emerald hill theme?

Pretty much this. I actually played it, this is a pretty creative hack from a level design perspective. It may not feature loops and such but it's a great like Marble Zone replacement or something like that, with an interesting maze design and yet some speed segments along the way. May want to consider recoloring some of the blocks that you can run through vs those you can't though, those purple cubes confused me from time to time. Keep going though this could be great.

Like pretty much everyone else has mentioned, the palletes are various levels of wonky. For example, the sunset-looking sky in the background of the first few shots could be decent with a little pallete tweaking, but the clashing purple, green/beige and gray blocks reaaally need changed, especially against that sky background. Try using colors that are more harmonious. The Color Scheme Designer website can help, and it's very intuitive to use. Also, perhaps try different colors for Sonic? I think you can probably portray an "icy" look for him without such over-bright colors.

Other than that, I think you have a good start here! The level art is pretty good so far.

I wouldn't call it bad, just in need of a little polish. Something about the use of weird, almost negative shading makes it look an interesting dreamscape. It has more emotional impact than most palettes I see.

While the colours could certainly be improved, I'd hate to see the creativity beaten out of it just so that it will conform to what our eyes expect to see.

The main problem I had was I couldn't tell where to go, some pieces of ground were solid at one part, but not the next, it was a muddle. I actually caught a taste for the palettes though.

The graphics kinda grow on you after a while. It's nice to see a hack with original graphics. There are some out there but they usually don't get finished. Hopefully this one is.
