Sonic 06 (Total) remake still have to ask Gistix for permission, or else...

I am currently in the planning works for the remake, and I mean the total remake, from top to bottom, of the entire game of Sonic 06. Before you could say anything, let me make some things clear:

  • I am still in the planning stage, that means, that some things that I might have planned may not be in the finished product.
  • I'm still making the story for the game, for it needs a complete overhaul in order for the game to thrive. That means, no human to hedgehog relationships (I'm looking at you Sonic X Elise)
  • I would be looking for people for development soon after I'm done with the story, so if you would like to join me, help in the project, or just give me suggestions; you may reply in this thread.
  • Gameplay will be tweaked to emphasize both on momentum and platforming, a balance between the two of sorts. I would appreciate those kinds of suggestions too. (Though I may have some ideas coming from other threads in this forum.)
  • I'll see to it that this would be finished and in completely bug free form. (So can someone pass me the debugging bug spray please...)
  • I'm really serious in doing this, and I also know that I can't do it alone, that's why I'm gonna look for people to help me in this project, possibly ask the former team members of Gistix to help (maybe a collab of sorts, I still need to talk to him.)


Here are some other stuff that you need to know:
  • I'm planning to do it in the Unreal Engine (though I'm still learning on how to use it, probably I'll learn it soon enough, since it's like Unity, the one game engine I know), in order for the graphics to be on par with the cut-scene graphics.
  • I'm making levels that conform to the story, so I won't be including levels that are out of the blue. (That also means, no Wave Ocean level, unless it somehow fits into the revised story)
  • I'm have already decided that Elise will still be in the story, though if she would be included in the story as a human or mobian is entirely up to the viewers (That means, you. Though I'm leaning on the human side, since that makes sense.)
  • The story will also include new characters (non-playable ones) in order to add some depth into the story (not too much though).
  • I'm gonna find someone who's gonna make the high-def models of the main characters, though the NPC's (this is a hard one) would probably be created by fans (assuming that works out)
  • There will still be the hub world, but it will be based loosely on the Sonic Unleashed Hub world design (and it's still Soleanna, if you're asking, just optimized). And I do hope that I can make it good enough to be interesting. (and no more required town missions, everything will be optional and the hub itself will be populated with interesting people and things to do, probably eating some chili dogs on the side.)
  • All the characters will be tweaked so that they all can run fast, with the minimum speed being Sonic's running speed. Special powers will be assigned to only one button, character mechanics will be the same as Sonic's with some unique moves and powers added to each of the characters.


If you have any other questions or suggestions on what you would like me to add to the game, or if you would like to help, just reply in this thread.

I might create a FAQ in this if I get enough input and questions soon, and if, for some reason, I somehow drop from the development... (Not sure on that part, can you help me out on how to handle this one, thanks in advance)

Suggestion: Why not join the Remake project already in progress? They're actively looking for people with the skills you've described, and they're far enough along that they have a working demo.

I didn't know that it's still ongoing, ever since that Gistix actually said that he decided to abandon the project altogether because of fan pressure. It would be interesting, though I highly decided on using Unreal, by the least, make the graphics more gorgeous (or great if performance is the issue).

Altogether, interesting, though I chose not to, though I might help them.

(Sometimes, I hate my indecision, especially on this topic.)

Rule one of game development: never make a topic announcing something when it's only in the planning phase. Anyone can come up with ideas in their head. I don't think anyone will even take this seriously since you haven't shown any proof you know anything about game development. If you do, great, but it's still too early to be making this public.

Plus they don't allow us to recruit here or beg for any other kind of help (I still don't know where should we go, though).

I know that fact that I wasn't supposed to ask for help. Though the other part might have been my mistake since I was too excited. Still, that doesn't change the fact that I am already doing it. In fact, I have made progress in the story of said game. Though I made it to the Silver boss battle as of now.

A suggestion: add Time Stones to the plot, as there's time travel, and those would allow to correct the mess with Chaos Emeralds. These should be there to provide the super forms at the end, but the Stones could make them get lost in time and later on bring them back together so the whole thing makes sense.
