The volcanic island in the center of the lake began to burst into flames approximately 1 year ago, so there are rumors that Sonic has come back... ANTON VERUCA'S CAVE ORIGINAL IDEA / KENJI TERADA MORIMOTO SANGO The Veruca family that's disliked by the town The lizard Veruca family lives in an ominous cave in the outskirts of town. The eldest son Anton is the town's biggest delinquent and a roughneck. Same goes for the younger brothers Mud, Hud and Tod, and the younger sister Migu - the 4 of them are a violent family of brats. But the scariet one of them all is the mother Vera. If Vera gets angry, even the father Hogi will end up feeling despondent, but they are a Veruca family.

Of all the Shogakukan Learning Journals, the 2nd grade magazine has the most interesting art, despite being fairly off model. So far, it seems like every discovered chapter of the 2nd grader magazine Sonic comic has been in full color. For what it's worth, according to Japanese Wikipedia, the series ran through the six primary school Learning Journals (grades 1-6) from April 1992 to August 1993, whilst the Corocoro Comics Special series ran August 1992 to April 1994.
Unfortunately, it doesn't specify the run for each magazine. So whilst it debuted in April 1992 in the second grade magazine (?????), it might not have debuted in the others until later. Similarly, it's possible that some may have ended earlier than August 1993. Gonna bump this to say that my friend Blob has translated the Fantasy Factory documentary into English. You know, for those who might be interested. He couldn't add the subs to the original video because it didn't have community contributions turned on, so he had to download it and put it on his channel. If only VHS tapes of this stuff were easy to find.

Aha! It's an early version of this illustration: The posing of Sonic and Tails are completely different, but Pecky in the bottom right corner with a comically large pair of scissors is the big giveaway.
