I've got friends there saying you're boned no matter which way, as public transportation is horrible, but to get the car because you can drive places outside of the city.
I may have an acquantiance in Culver City who I could stay with. He lives with me right now but he's moving to LA soon. He may not move by June 8 though. EDIT: Oh crap, I thought about staying a few extra days before or after the event, but I just realized I have a concert I want to attend on June 7, eliminating the "before" possibility. (and also the cheaper Greyhound option, ensuring I'll be flying the morning of the 8th) There's some things that'd prevent an "after" so that's going to be a concern. Either way I'm going to be there and it's done.
RETRO PRE-EVENT PARTY I don't want to plaster this on the front page yet because we may jigger things around depending on how everyone's schedule looks, but we're looking right now at doing a pre-Sonic Boom party at Blipsy Barcade, which is a few miles north of Club Nokia. Any interest?
I won't be able to attend, but I demand someone bring a camera, I'd love to see a group picture of Retro's members!
So I guess I'm not going unless Sega can materialize some more tickets. It sucks because I'm just down in San Diego, and making it would not be a problem for me. Think it would still be worth it for a Retro meet-up outside the con?
You can still go if you don't have a ticket. Your entry is just limited by how full the venue is. You might have to wait a while before you get let in.
Video Games Live is happening next door at the Nokia Theatre at 8pm (Sonic Boom starts at 6pm.) Conceivably, you can get into Boom for about an hour and blow it off at 8pm for VGL. Then there's the Retro Barcade U.S. Meet Up before Boom at 4pm. I can confirm that at least SS and myself will be there. I trust some of you over-21s will show up. And I'm sure we can do some stuff on Thursday.
I spose since I was gone for a week Chimpo already mentioned above me, but I'll be tagging along as his keychain :D I couldn't get a ticket to get in though, so I'll be forced to wait out in line.
