I was playing Sonic Megamix and realized how much I loved the level design.

With official Sonic games, I can easily find a detailed png of an entire level:

But for fangames, I haven't ever seen these kinds of full level renders.

Does anyone know how I could generate/view a full map from a fangame like Sonic Megamix?

I'm playing the US MegaCD "4.0b" version.

I do have a map generator on my website, but that relies on data being in specific formats and locations in a savestate file, which Sonic Megamix 4.0 and later wouldn't comply with. Furthermore, such an image would be lacking graphics related to objects. If you had access to the source files, and had defined graphics for all the objects used in the levels, you could get something like my map of HPZ as it appears in Knuckles' Emerald Hunt, which I generated with SonLVL.

If you're feeling truly devoted to getting the levelmaps from hacks, you could construct them yourself by ripping the individual tiles using an emulator like GENS Kmod and constructing the map from those. It isn't easy but it gets the job done.

Actual fangames is another beast altogether. Without access to the source you'll just be able to make a reasonable fascimile.
