So...This game has like...18 Pre-Order bonuses, which in Japan mean that 18 different stores are giving out a different bonus.

I doubt we'll be able to document all that. :(

I guess this means I have to actually play my GF's copy of HDN so I understand that half of the story.

Is that the original or ReBirth?

I've 100%'d both ReBirth games on Steam and plan to do the third in 10 days when it's out but I still refuse to touch the original Neptunia I and II with a 10ft pole

They're... really terrible, with shitty gameplay that can't redeem how kitsch it is.

I was actually wondering about that, awesome to hear it. Wonder if it'll get a PC port like the rest of the Hyperdimension Neptunia games on Vita did?

Will this be the first time the Sega Hard girls speak in English? Any news on who the VAs are?

Perpetually trying to find more games to speedrun.
They're fairly inconsistent with what Neptunia games do and don't get ported, but since Superdimension looks to be closer to the mainline series in terms of its mechanics I'd say it's got a pretty good chance of getting a port. Hyperdevotion Noire just got announced for a PC port and if that's worth porting but this somehow isn't I will be baffled and slightly annoyed.

Trust me, you do not need to play any of these games to understand the plot at all. I have played most of them and it still makes absolutely no sense. The series likes to bounce between alternative universes a lot so the games don't really follow any kind of continuity. If you're in this for plot you are in it for all the wrong reasons.

The original Neptunia is unmitigated garbage and should be avoided at all costs. It's not even funny bad and I have no idea how this series reached this point with a first instalment that fucking bad.

the rebirth games are still bad but I like them anyway and I apologise for absolutely nothing

edit: it only just occurs to me I am replying to a post from last goddamn year whoops

Well to be honest, the only games so far that haven't gotten PC ports are the original version of the the first three, the Vita rhythm game (which might use touch controls, though I don't actually know) and that one featuring Blanc. Even VII has a listing on ESRB with Windows as a playform alongside PS4, and although they said that as a precaution, they said that about Hyperdevotion Noire too which then 10 months later got a PC port announced. Get the feeling it'll make its way to PC at some point either way.

Sorry for a necro, but I might as well ask this here: Is it Neptunia ReBirth 1 worth checking out? I'm having a sRPG (damn you Disgaea) burnout and I'm in a mood to try out something more typical, but crazy jRPG experience, and Neptunia seems to be the right antidote for my case. While I have heard the Neptunia series is somewhat grindy, I can deal with it. Steam's user reviews seems really positive in this one, but I still want to ask/know your opinion.

Oh, and being more in-topic, Superdimension Neptunia x Sega Hard Girls gets released in EU PSN Store in 21th October. (But chances are you guys may have known this already.)

The Re;Birth set are remakes of the first 3 games, and as such are based on an improved version of the 3rd game's engine. I've loved the series, and Re;Birth1 is only really grindy at one or two particular parts. Other than that the only grinding that comes to mind is optional grinding for materials to makes things/get achievements. Definitely worth checking out though they'll very likely go on sale in the holiday season, they always do (Usually 50% off for the Re;Birth games) and are absolutely worth the price.

On the other hand, if you're looking for something a little more stand-alone and not part of a (now rather big) series, Fairy Fencer F might be a bit more up your alley. Same creators, similar overall style of gameplay but with its own twists.

Following on from my previous post, the Blanc + Neptune spinoff came to Steam little over 2 weeks ago, VII came to PC a few months back, and the game the topic is about has PC listed on its ESRB page, which has been the giveaway for previous titles that it's coming to PC.

Coolio! Neptunia ReBirth 1 it is! Fairy Fencer F seems like too "stock" for my taste.

I can understand that, it plays on quite a few tropes at once and can come across that way. Hope you enjoy Neptunia!

The obvious PC port was announced and game is coming to Steam Summer 2017.

  16. Glad it finally has a page up, but it is really bizarre that they don't have a price up when it is getting released in less than two weeks. It will probably be around $30US yet be on sale for around $24.

They'll likely do the usual thing of putting a price up on release day, along with a 40/50% discount (most likely 50 considering the other Vita titles having that on release). In fact if it follows the same pricing as literally every other Vita ported Neptunia game, in UK money it'd be £22.99 at full price, and $29.99 at full price on US stores, but like I said they always have launch week discounts.

  18. Wait a second, now the game is "Superdimension Neptunia". Does that mean we're finally revisiting the version of the characters from the very first game?

No. The game name in English has always been Superdimension.

Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls

  20. Yes, but what I mean is that the first game had different incarnations of the main characters. The developers didn't anticipate making a series out of it, and wrote themselves into a corner. To be able to make more games, they labeled the setting of the first game the Superdimension, and the later games are in the Hyperdimension. Kind of like Marvel having different worlds in the multiverse, only much smaller-scale.

So, if this is Superdimension Neptunia, does this mean that we're finally getting to see more of the original characters? For instance, the canon ending of the first game had Arfoire being redeemed and purged of her corruption. It's also the only game that does this with the character. Does this mean that we get to see Good Arfoire interacting with any of the characters? We only got to see her for the absolute final scene of the original game, so no idea how interactions would go.
