Posts I've Made
27 February 2014 - 09:15 AMAll of those jokes were awful, god damn. It's baffling to have so much talent behind a show and have jokes that bad.
But hey, I'm gonna give it a chance. We've been surprised before, right? Right.
I still find it hilarious that some people actually think that this will take over the main Sonic series if it becomes successful. Sega has been known to make some boneheaded decisions before but...c'mon now, honestly.
06 February 2014 - 11:23 PMYou know what, I'll give them credit where credit is due, this is pretty ballsy on Sega's part. Especially considering how "safe" they've been playing Sonic lately.
I think what we'll get is "okay" and "watchable" at worst. Seems to be Modern Sonic's theme, doesn't it?
The blue arms...I dunno, my inner fan wants me to rage but, eh. I'm gettin' too old for this shit. I'll live.
04 January 2014 - 06:40 AMSad to hear this, his covers are pretty deeply rooted in muh nostalgia. Always reminds me of happier times when I think back on first picking up Sonic 3's box and seeing that cover.
I'll probably forget your name tomorrow, but I'll always remember your work fondly. Rest easy man.
22 October 2013 - 05:12 PMI thought it was obvious that the spike pit in Mystic Cave was basically the developers telling you "Just because you unlocked Super Sonic doesn't mean you get to put it into auto pilot. You still have to actually play the game. Now think about that for a minute or so until you die." But the thing is, it doesn't really occur to you right away. No, afterword you grumble about it and then it leaves your mind for another Zone. You shrug it off as a random dick move, or maybe even an oversight. Oh well. ...but then suddenly Metropolis comes around to cock slap you in the face with precise platforming and no more 'hold right to win' level design. Well, shit. Then it all clicks, about what the spike pit really meant, and you realize what diabolical geniuses the developers were all along. What's even more evil here, though? Is that if you want to actually do some precise platforming, you have to actively avoid rings, because even just jumping once when you have fifty and...well, yeah. Though that strikes me more as of an oversight than intentional dickery for some reason. At any rate I think it's a rather clever way to keep players on their toes.
Then of course Sonic 3 and Knuckles rolled around and they kinda threw that design philosophy out the window, because you actually CAN just coast through the rest of the game with Super/Hyper modes. Shame about that, really. Kinda makes the game boring for me, because at that point it basically turns into an early version of 'boost2win' at it's worst. You know, being an unstoppable juggernaut and only having to hold one direction to beat the stage and all. Gets a tad old if you ask me.
03 October 2013 - 08:43 AMI dunno why people are bitching. It'll be just like old times: Shitty cartoons but great games!
Regarding Knuckles though- I'm all for redesigns, we all know Sonic Team has been creatively bankrupt in that area for a decade or so, but this...this just goes too far in one direction. They could have made Knuckles look beefier without inflating his body mass times ten, surely. The rest look fine from what I can tell, no distinctive design differences from the source other than Knuckles'.
That said, I'll have to hold back my impotent fan rage until I get an actual look at the designs.
