Was gonna say the same thing about the first one. It's very nice though. Background looks great and I think that the gold and red waterfall give it a REALLY nice pop of color. If you were able to work those accent colors in other areas of the level I think you'd have a really beautiful and unique looking stage on your hands.
Just looks absolutely beautiful and all kinds of amazing Hez. You have serious talent both artistically and in terms of Sonic fangame development. The game's looking like it'll be fucking awesome. It's interesting to see the evolution of the zone. I think your latest WIP build is the best by far. It looks like something I'd love to play.
I'm loving this water stage design, it really looks unique for a Sonic game while still looking right. Great work!
Funny thing is that part of it are from it. The tiles (without the ones from Labyrinth) and the pink pillars. The third world from World Of Illusion. The execution are lovely Hez
This looks absolutely stunning, Hez. + - I recognize that BG on third screenshot Also every time I see that Sonic is still one pixel inside the the ground in his idle pose that triggers my OCD.
The graphics are absolutely stunning! I must say I won't mind if the pink was gold but the pink matches better. Glad to see you're still workin on this! I've been patiently waiting for you for years, having faith that you wouldn't give up and finish this at your own pace. regardless of how many years it takes I will continue to wait and have faith in you.
now...I can't unsee it....I have to fix it now. EDIT: Also, this kind of sucks because now I have to completely redo the level in a way. The level was complete beforehand, using the graphics from the third pic, boss and everything. It was more HCZ themed though. Now, I don't really know what to do with the tubes (similiar to the blue tube things pictured below) As they really don't fit the theme anymore. The tubes made the zone more speed based, which I know the first game lacked.
I'm hardly the best spriter so I'm not sure how well this would work in practice, but maybe it'd look classy if you recoloured the tubes and applied some kind of marble texture to them somehow.
Hm.. for the style you're going for, what about making the tubes use the blue/pinky-purple you have going on there, or even keeping them grey, but with the vines you can see in the flooring wrapped around them? That way they aren't just the same as Hydrocity's, and it gives them more of an ancient feel to them, with nature having grown around/through them.
I think the background could use a contrasting color. You have a lot of purples and blues going on in both the foreground and background, so some contrast would help make the level stick out more.
Looks fucking fantastic to me Hez. Like a neon Hydrocity on steroids. Love it. Your artistic flair knows no bounds. So excited to finally give Classic 2 a spin when it releases.
It's beautiful, Hez! Great job! But as Sparks said, the background could use some contrasting. Since the tone of the foreground and background is very close, the environment ends up mixing somewhat. I think a subtle change would already make a big difference. Spoiler I'm terrible with colors, so I don't recommend following these tones literally, but this serves to illustrate how a slight change already makes the foreground become much more prominent.
Background from Hez merged with the foreground from Chaud and then I think you'll have a winning combination. Also, this level isn't in my BETA; gimme gimme gimme! :v:
