I know, I know, Sega didn't do his character any favours. However, I think that Big, if used more as comic relief and less as a SERIOUS OMG part of the story, could've worked out more for Sega's advantage. Your thoughts? (Please no BIG SUX, I do believe that this was the point that Sega got a bit comfortable with a bunch of new characters in every game, but we have heard enough on that side of things already.)
Big the Cat Is he really that bad?

didn't really care too much for that cat, his levels were boring too...I don't see where your going with this.

I'm going with the fact that Big wasn't a 100% bad idea, Sega was just doing it wrong.

I never had a problem with him, he's just mentally retarded so you almost feel bad for him.

Boring levels, but he's actually one of my favorite characters. People hate him too much just because he's simple minded and care-free. If anything, it makes him one of the best characters; not always being angst or super corny.

As a character I like him and think he fits as a Sonic character better than most of the post-SA2 characters do, but his gameplay is pretty awful in SA1. That said he's not that bad in Heroes and works pretty humorously as a comic relief character or easter egg.

They definitely seem to use him as comic relief in ASR.
Giant Froggy is hilarious.

Meh I see him more as a comic relief character like a few other members. I don't hate him, but I think SEGA should have done something else with him.

Big breaks the number one rule of comic relief... that being to be funny. So as a character, he's basically a complete failure. I don't think I've ever seen anyone capable of laughing at Big's antics. Just goes to show you really that mental retardation isn't always funny.

A big fat purple cat scratching his butt in space in the middle of a dramatic scene out of nowhere should be funny

To me, Big serves one purpose: Challenging those who would make their own Sonic canon to find some way in hell to make him un-retarded.
Bioware claimed to have done it, but I think they failed.

Big's heaps awesome. So far, he never failed to make me laugh, or at least giggle or smile, and he's good to play as in Heroes.
Amy: This weather reminds me of our last attack on the Egg Carrier!
Cream: You've been in battle before? What? You too, Mr. Big?
Big: FROGGGYYYYY!!
Screw Metal Sonic, that scene is the best in the game.

Never really liked the character, the levels in Sonic Adventure always seemed like filler. But, you know, SEGA tried to mix it up in terms of variety, which is something not a lot of game developers do.

Big the Cat is possibly one of the greatest characters in the entire Sonic franchise, he's that awesome. Fact. ;P
Honestly, he's about the only character in the last ten years (besides perhaps Blaze) that hasn't been overcooked or outstayed his welcome. He was a bit shit to play as in SA1, I'll admit, but Big the Cat doesn't give a shit about your opinion. Big'd pimp slap your ass. And that is the truth of the matter.
His later role of being some sort of Easter Egg in SA2/Secret Rings seems to suit him best, although he's pretty cool in Chronicles.
