I'm still very much brunt to a crisp from Ep1 and would prefer that they restart, but since they're not, I would prefer a lock on version or at the very least, something to justify the price. Ep1's price was not worth it.

Even if the physics are fixed, it won't be enough for me. Even Sonic Blast on game gear had more zones than either epsiode.

So we have:

IceCap Zone (or any other snow level, really)
Sky Park Zone

The snow and Carnival levels are obviously the same zone. Look at the trees in the backgrounds of both! A nice mish-mash of tropes.

Hey, you're right. :v: But I still think there could be a separate snow level.

Now I see why they re-released Sonic CD. I thought it was just to show Metal Sonic's backstory, but it looks like they're actually bringing back Little Planet. I'm really excited! :D

And just like that the screenshots are gone from the Market place =P

Meh doesn't matter the page served its purpose. Now there everywhere and theres not a damned thing SEGA can do about it!! *Eggman Laugh*

These screens look great. Is it me or does sonic's run animation look different from episode 1?

Rather random thing to notice, but it seems Modern Tails uses Classic Tails' … tails here, visually speaking.

Also, this looks bloody gorgeous, the models actually don't look like ass now; looks like they're the Generations Models for the most part. owo

I really want a music rip now. Just the first Act, that's all. I promise I'll be satisfied with that, SEGA. ;_;

I just love the feel these screenshots give off. I seriously love that dark, nighttime, overcast atmosphere.

I still don't like the looks of this. Sure, they showed me some shiny new pictures, but it still looks like a rehash of Sonic 2 with more than likely shitty physics.
Describe to me a zone that wouldn't look like a rehash from another game.

They certainly look more original than Episode 1's levels, don't they?
Ugh, no. These pictures shows graphics visibly better than the ones from Episode 1. Also, Sonic's visual style looks MUCH better (it reminds me of Sonic Generations/Unleashed/Colors a bit more), impressive level art that differs from the EP1's rubber-like graphics and it shows a much better animation/style/pose for Sonic running. I liked these details a lot, I really noticed a giant improvement in comparison to the stuff from Episode 1. But videos are the only thing that will be make me to get a deep analysis into the contents of the game.

The models? You mean the textures, lighting, and animations, yes? I see from the screens that the lighting is much improved, and it looks more like 2.5D environments than cardboard 2D ones, anyway. Nice effect, but I'm slightly disappointed by what we know so far of the levels—if the summary is to be believed, it's still only four zones long, with nothing terribly original so far beyond a few new badniks there, so it's not a lot to get excited by.

However, looking beyond skin-deep and considering the implications of the other stuff, the fact that they're going for a new engine and much-improved graphical style means they aren't going to emphasize conformity with Episode I much at all, meaning we can expect the graphical and gameplay inprovements not to suffer because they don't want Episode II to be too similar to Episode I. The glimpses we get of what appears to be a Death Egg/Little Planet hybrid hint at a much more interesting story scenario than Episode I's, which isn't likely to be much of a factor at all but is always a nice thing to have (it made S3&K that much more of a joy to play).

@ Lanzer: yeah, Sonic's animation looks different. Can't tell if it's good or bad in still-frame, though.

Wow! So far this actually looks... dare I say it... good! Those crimble trees look fucking lovely. Sonic doesn't look like a cunt anymore (looks like a great new running animation), and there's some nice fresh new ideas. I'm honestly not seeing much of a rehash in the so called "Aquatic Marble Zone", it looks like an abandoned fortress/castle to me, and the drilling platform zone looks fucking badass!

I'm not a buyer yet though. I'm still seeing bubbles chains and only 4 zones. 2 years is a long wait for 4 zones... and they'd better be fucking awesome too, or they can go fuck themselves in the arse with a rusty metal penis.

I must say I'm not too excited about rehashing more past levels. (They do seem to be much more creative this time however.) I am atleast glad that they seem to be going for a much nicer look.

I'm interested to see how Sonic and Tails will interact with each other. I just hope that I can have the option to not use Tails in the special stages though. This is because even if they make them faithful to the originals, they will be a headache with Tails always running into things and losing my rings.

With that said, I still need footage to show me the physics because I just can't bring myself to be excited about this if I don't see huge improvement there.

Also, if the increase in quality of the graphics was a result from them dropping WiiWare, it was a good call in my book.

Wow. The visuals actually look deep and impressive! Well done, graphics team. I like what I see.

Spoiler

Really.

I'll be looking forward to how Sonic and Tails tag-team in this. For the first time, Tails might actually be useful!

Well okay there was Sonic Advance 3, but nobody likes that game.

Happy to see some original badniks too. I just wish Bubbles would go away. Nobody likes him anymore.

+1 for Aquatic Marble Zone at night.

I'd label myself "cautiously optimistic" for now. I like what I see, but I definitely need to see more before I can forgive Episode I.

This is really beautiful. I'm actually pretty much sold on this game - just some good gameplay footage and I'll pay whatever it is they want me to pay, as long as it's not obsenely excessive (or if it is, only if it ends up in Ken speaking to me in Spanish).

Although fuck Bubbles. Only recurring badnik from the first part, and it wasn't even one of the ones that made sense in whatever zone it was in. I could have lived with Shellcracker in the sandy robotics zone, but meh.

Also, CO-OP. Fuck yes.
