I read #234 the other day. Just...holy shit. Even though I knew what happened already it was still shocking as hell. Next issue can't get here fast enough.

I know it's been said before, but this is really how the comic should have been all along. The unified and all around rather decent art, the storylines that are mostly sensible when seen as a whole, the balance between humor and serious storytelling and just a general commitment to quality. Every new preview I see on here makes me think about delving back into the comic.

Jamal Peppers strikes again! He is my favorite penciler now. He should really do all the comics. With Jim on inks this looks beautiful.

I.....I didn't think it was possible....
They came up with blokes that look even more like fancharacters..... Also, some updates

Sonic Universe #41
"(W) Ian Flynn (A) Jim Amash & Various (CA) Stephen Downer & Various
'Unsung Heroes,' Part 1. The Secret Freedom Fighter arc begins here! Geoffrey St. John has been sent on a mysterious mission by the evil Ixis Naugus. It's up to Silver the Hedgehog's squad to find out what he's after - and to stop him! What is Naugus's sinister plot? Who are these Secret Freedom Fighters? The answers begin here!"
Sonic The Hedgehog #238
"(W) Ian Flynn (A) Terry Austin & Various (CA) Tracy Yardley & Various
'Loyalty,' Part 2. The clock is ticking as Sonic leads Team Fighters on a desperate rescue mission! Two nations stand on the brink of war, and long-time ally Lupe is set to be legionized! Meanwhile, the 'Unraveling' storyline begins as Mina's concert of hope draws the ire of the evil Ixis Naugus!"
Well, this one's...unexpected. So I guess Silver's staying in the present a joining Harvey and Elias' new team? And who are some of these people? Is that supposed to be Jules in the upper left? It sure as hell doesn't look like him, but there's really no one else it can be. It looks more like the destroyed Metal Sonic from #86 and #87, but Ian's been pretty firm on his Dead=Dead thing, aside from Sally, so it'd be pretty stupid if it was him.
...Is that Larry Lynx in the middle-back?
Never before has a cover confused me so much.
EDIT: According to some people over at Bumbleking, the two on the right are the Wolf Pack twins who no one ever remembers because they never did anything. They're also saying that the guy next to Silver might be a miscolored Elias, but the problem is if it's him, he's off-design too.

I haven't kept up with Universe at all, so could someone tell me, is that version of Metal Sonic new to the story, or has he been part of it for a while? #86 was my first ever Sonic comic, and that model is obviously modeled after the #86 version. That cover makes me interested in picking it up!

Guys its gotta be Silver Sonic Mk. II:
http://archiesonic.w...Silver_Sonic_II
Hes been destroyed since #98 when the SA2 arc(?) was going on and Shadow was being a jerkoff but his remains were picked up by J.J. Moto and has been MIA since. Ian did say he wants to bring J.J. Moto back and this seems perfect and with him comes SS Mk. II. makes sense right?

Look at this.

Number of spines is different, but that's definitely influenced by that iteration of Metal Sonic. Right down to the power gem in the chest and mega buster.

Glad I'm not the only one that made the Penny connection with Hope.
Is it just me or does Snively's design get uglier and uglier with each artist?
As for the secret Freedom Fighters, hard to say since so they've been simplified so much into generic Uekawa models. That does kinda look like the current design for Elias, only with his hair combed back.

...Is that Larry Lynx is the background next to Harvey Who in the SU #41 cover?
Looks like a Lynx and there is no one else I can think of.

I really miss the old design and art from the comics back in the day. Like around issue 30-50 ish or so. I don't know the exact number. But it was good. The comic has been getting better in that regard as of late, though.
