In Final Zone, you can run off the edge of the stage at the end... at least I did this with Sonic and Tails... this could be fixed...
    AND
Shouldn't the goggles monitor help prevent you from drowning??? Oh well, we DO have a Bubble Shield.

OH, and SBZ 3 is missing a tiny platform that moves to the right. It's not seen in a clean Sonic 1 ROM, but the object IS in the code... due to a flag being set that shouldn't be, the object never appears. Would be nice to have the little guy in the level...

Fairly sure this happens in the original.

I'm not sure it was ever mentioned before, but I was messing around in Marble Zone with Super Tails, and instead of using the blocks to float over the lava, because I was super, I decided to just book it across the lava. Then when I was about to smash into (or go under?) one of the obstacles that Sonic would normally have to jump over/onto from the moving block, Tails got "crushed" and died. Playing the Android version, if that helps.

(Not a big deal I'd imagine, it was my fault for being an idiot on the lava, but still thought I'd mention it, haha.)

    Yep, sure does.

  5. Taxman, if this gets a console port, there damn well better be a way for a second player to control Tails.

That didn't work for me :(

Text is all garbled but gameplay is still delayed. It's not a game-breaking problem so I'll just live with it, I'm still having loads of fun :specialed:

The Bluestacks fix didn't really do anything for me. Text wasn't garbled either, I'm not too familiar with the program so maybe I didn't re-enter Sonic 1 the right way?

    This would be amazing.

You know that area with the extra life just prior to Spring Yard's boss? I climbed up the rightmost wall with Knuckles and he ended up pulling himself through an invisible floor. Basically I was stuck in the wall at that point and had to reset.

  10. This is a really minor bug, but when I play as Knuckles, use the glide to attack, and then bounce off (for instance, during the fight with Robotnik in the Final Zone) , upon landing, Knuckles immediately goes to his idle animation (looking angry and tapping his foot) instead of simply standing still. I got this, as I said, during the Final Zone fight, and also when I tried gliding through the destructible wall at the beginning of Green Hill Zone act 2.

This is something I was about to suggest as well, which is what Sonic Advance did. It let you select your character first, and then loaded the records set with it.

Not sure if this is worth any consideration, but the bug in Marble Zone 2 that lets you duck under the rectangular platforms as the square floats across the lava to the left does not work in this version. I realize it was bug, but I would always just duck instead of jumping onto the platform and waiting for the block to float under. (This bug is documented on the wiki's bug list, and there's probably a youtube video of it somewhere)

I can understand if you don't want to implement this bug as a feature.

Um... I DO realize this... Matter of fact I have it fixed it in REV C. (Thank you ReadySonic)
The purpose of me pointing this out is that it is STILL something that should be fixed...

Also, while I'm at it, Tails' flying has a bug. (I recognize it well, as I had the same bug for Tails in my Trilogy Engine. Fly up toa ceiling or an object, and keep pressing jump. Now stop, and he should fall right back down. NOPE, instead, Tails will stay up against the ceiling momentarily before descending. For how long, depends on how much you pushed up against said ceiling.

  14. Android: If Tails is carrying Sonic and the two manage to get separated Sonic becomes floaty for a few seconds before snapping back to Tails.

I did get that same bug as well. IOS version I've been reporting, BTW.
In that same zone with those objects too. Tried to replicate in other areas to no avail.

    Problems:
    • Drowning music is a bit quiet compared to other tracks.
    • In some places the camera is either not in the same position as in the original game or not at ideal positions. Two examples would be the moving pillars bit in Marble Act 1, and the passage with shallow water and lots of tridents in Labyrinth Act 1.
    • Knuckles' skidding animation is missing some frames and doesn't animate as accurately as in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
    • Restarting a level while in super form causes you to start the level in your super form, with your rings decreasing into negative values that don't show on the HUD.
    • Super Sonic still uses normal Sonic sprites for various animations (e.g. looking up). This is something that's always bugged me in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and this should not be the case here.
    • Were the goggles originally supposed to let you breathe underwater? Because they don't do that here. Though we do have the Water Shield for that, it would have been nice if the goggles could do it too.
    • Android version only unless I'm mistaken: Pressing the Android device's "back" button on the main menu to exit the game doesn't close it down. It just puts the game into the background, which means that I need to use the task manager to completely close the game.
    Suggestions:
    • Add in the option to disable the time limit when debug mode is active.
    • If we have beta objects like the rolling ball (which is incredibly fun to play with) as secret easter eggs, how about secret beta stages (seven-layers-of-scrolling GHZ, Sparkling Zone, etc.)?

This really isn't a problem with the port as it was with the original, but Green Hill Zone's background is a jumbled mess. It's not as well put together as the backgrounds of subsequent zones. Would it be possible to make a new background that's loosely based on the original, but a bit more coherent?

  18. Not sure if this would really be categorized as a bug, but after hitting a goal post, the music stops. Why is this? The music never did that in the original Sonic 1. (This is also happens in the Sonic CD remake if that helps)

I'm pretty sure it's just a design decision. It fades out and it transition better.

There have been a few times where I'm drowning and get a bubble, but the drowning music and countdown keep going. Sonic isn't killed, but after the countdown finishes there's no music until I get another bubble.

If you place an egg prison or signpost at the start of a level, the left level boundary will move left and you can see the end of the level. It's something that can happen in debug mode though, so it's not a big deal.

In SBZ3 I was standing on the edge of a rising platform that smashes you into spikes, but instead of being smashed by the spikes I was pushed into the wall next to the spikes and was stuck.
