Hay guys, have been on a quest to find out more stuff about Sonic Xtreme, and look what I have dug up. The director of Sega Technical Institute, the ones who created Sonic Spinball, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and the finaly canned Sonic xtreme.

    Heres my email.
    He then replied:

So, any idea what I could ask him? I got a few obvious things already, but I would enjoy some ideas from people.

    Cheers.

    The obvious questions...

"Do you have a copy of Sonic Xtreme?"
"Could you give us a copy?" :P

I'll edit this with more questions later, as soon as I think of them.

Find out why it was canned, why the bosses were so damn huge, and why nearly all of the badniks were red. That's something I've been wondering for a long time.

    They are good thanks.

I would also like to note, you can ask about Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic Spinball, Comix Zone, or anything else STI made, for that matter. ^_^

No Sonic 2 invlovement there. :P

Ask him what was up with Sonic Crackers, and if any more work was done on it before it was ported over to the 32x.

I am sure I read somewhere that Sonic 2 was developed at STI.

Yes, but it was developed in 1992, and he started working at STI in 93, so he couldn't have worked on S2. :P

Ask him if there were gonna be any fire/volcano type zones later added to Sonic X-Treme! 'Cause... 4 Zones just wasn't enough for the game. They were bound to add more. I wanna know if there was a Fire/Volcanic one! (Yes, yes I'm a pyro.)

Definitly ask him everything you can about crackers (who did what, what the whole deal was, etc) what other games were he involved in?
It might also be a good idea to upload some screens of Sonic Crackers on image shack to refresh him memory.

Ask him about what kind of things were cut from he games he worked on.

STI developed Chaotix (I believe), which was what Crackers became.

I can't seem to find any evidance of this, so I'm sceptical...

As for if it turned in to Chaotix...

As for if it was developed by STI, never mind, it wasn't, it was SoJ, sorry.

Heh, I know it was the proto of Chaotix, and I think it was SoJ, but I shall ask him about it anyway.

    Welp, this.
You know something that's really bothered me whenever we contact people?

Specific questions. You know what I would ask? A lot on how STI worked. Set up, daily life, internal conflicts - knowing conditions may help us understand what happened to games and why. They're more likely to remember that sort of stuff anyway.

Though obviously we would ask some of the "Crackers WTF" questions too. =P

Very good point actully, we never have found how it worked in the studio. I will be sure to raise this point.

You should ask him if Sonic Xtreme ever had anything to do with "Bug!", the game for the Sega Saturn. It may only be me, but whenever I hear about Xtreme, I remember Bug!. That and an old fangame of mine called "Sonic Extreme" :P
