Lazy wikipedia copypasters won't prevent me from buying this art book if it has that half dozen concept arts in it. Not even terrific iterations of the Sonic 1 logo, but... doesn't this feel like they are doing the same as with modern games? You know: "Hey, you like Sonic, so we will show you a wonderful Sonic world and then fill it with trash, since we don't really understand why do you like it and we just want to get your money."
And that's because they know it won't prevent you from buying it.

But half the appeal of the art is the stuff behind it. And they know that as well. We won't just take the art and call it a day, we'll analyze it and try to piece things together. Some clarification and research would really help sell the book, but I kind of feel like they know we'll just take the art and do the rest ourselves.

Doesn't ruin the book or anything (obviously), but it'd be nice if they really dove deep into the backstory behind it all. I can only hear how Sonic was a partial merging of Mickey Mouse and Felix so many more times.

I know they're playing that card, we all know that, but that kind of details are no good publicity for them. For example, I'm not getting the collector's edition because the prize gets too high compared to the standard version and they're offering just a pitiful thing in exchange for that extra money. If it hadn't so many interesting pictures, I'd never think of buying this.

The art books are being shipped later this week and next week.

Almost there! We have finalized the books, the box, prints etc. and everything looks really good! Attached to this post you can see some photos of the finished product(s). We will do a proper photo shoot soon.

We are packing and shipping out later this week and next week to everybody that pre-ordered. (Due the high volume of pre-orders we won't be able to get everything out the door this week.) We thought initially that we could service our European customers a week before the shipments to North America and the rest of the world but that proved to challenging logistically and now they are all shipping together.

The books will be picked up at the Italian book binder, shipped to our warehouse in Amsterdam and Los Angeles respectively (via air freight) where we already have labeled boxed ready. They will be send immediately on to you via USPS or your local postal service. We are not booking these book in our system as we would regularly do to save a couple of days but that does mean we likely won't have tracking numbers for these orders (currently looking this).

We would like to apologize again for any inconvenience caused by the delay, and we thank you for your patience while we sorted out the issues with the book. If you have questions or maybe want to cancel your order because of this delay, please contact us via our contact form on our website. Alternatively, you can ask us questions (semi) live here on our Facebook page.

Remember we will also email a 10% discount code for any future purchase at Cook & Becker to anyone who pre-ordered the Sonic book.
