All right, I've got SHHWP from Drakmyth Master's site, but I need a file called shfolder.dll in my C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder, and I think it's nessecary to run the Sonic 2 hacking program. It's not there, but my computer thinks it is, so when I went to download it from a site called DLL World, it wouldn't let me "overwrite" it!!! :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? I was trying to download it directly into the folder. The reason I know I need it is because when I installed it, it came up with this message:

one way to do it would be to delete your history/files/cookies and it should completely refresh all the "internet" pages, along with getting rid of all of them in your scrollbal (useful for protecting privacy!)

then it should need to get the files again when you view a webpage (like these forums) and take a breif moment again, once that's done the download should get the file you need,

good luck!

I can download the file, it just won't "overwrite" a non-existant file!

Yes, good old Windows 98. That's where most of my themes and hacks go :D.

How did you THAT? That is just cool. You're gonna hafta show me how to do that.

Anywho, delete evrything in your history/cookies folders then close all unecesary programs (virus scanners, pop-up killers, etc.) then try to delete then file. If it's giving you the error because you didn't register the dll, you need to do that. (I forget how though, I don't use SHWP anymore.)

This is probably one of those lovely VB programs that require runtimes. If you can't copy the dll files to your system folder for some reason, restart in DOS mode and copy the file yourself. For the DOS impaired, follow these instructions:

First move the DLL file to C:\ before we begin. Then Select Shutdown and reboot in DOS mode. If that option is not available, then restart and press F8 like mad while the computer boots up and you should have a start in DOS mode option. Now that we are in DOS mode, do this: (pressing enter at the end of each line)

cd\
move shfolder.dll c:\windows\system

That's it. Windows can't bitch at you in DOS mode :D.

Last resort is always to use DOS but since that didn't work I have no idea.

XFoxPrower, how did you do that interesting properties hack? I wanna do that.

For the properties hack, you have to have an existing logo. If you have it, simply look for a file called oemlogo.bmp in your c:\windows\system folder. It is the image that displays in the properties. The image may have a different name (in which case I have never seen happen) but there should be a oemdata.ini file or something like that to specify the name (if it exists).

The image stats must be as follows:
  • 180x114
  • 8-bit (256 colors)
  • BMP format (uncompressed)
Note: This is only for Windows 95/98/ME. if you do not have a logo to modify, creating the image in its place doesn't seem to work. You may give the Oem Logo Manager in that case and it may work for you (don't know, never tried). It is Here.

If you find this useful, you can download my Tails logo or my animated Tails startup screen at http://scorpius.spac.../~xfox/download ;).

I look forward to trying that. Anyway, it turns out that the file exists, but I didn't have "Show all files" turned on, so that's why it wouldn't do it. Anyway, I got the new file in, but obviously, it still won't work; it gives the same errors and everything.
