Seems Gametrailers was spying on us recently: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/episode-...-fiction/712395 I like how the fact that most of the episode is linking to the wiki pages. What do you think retro?
That's awesome the site got shown a lot but at the same time, it would have been nice if its name was mentioned once. <_<
I originally thought my connection was crapping out but then I realized it's the site. That would certainly explain this site's slowness. >_>
It's cute to see there's still so many folks out there who don't know about all this. It should go without saying, but it's pretty easy to take this stuff for granted after 10 years! Should've dropped a Dust Hill screenshot somewhere to really fuck the server over.
I'm glad they mentioned "Hidden Palace Zone". This's one of the most important myths in the gaming history, along with "Playing with Ermac in MK1", "Getting the Triforce in Zelda OoT", "Reviving Aeris in FFVII", "The Ambulance Ending in Silent Hill 1" and "Playing with Luigi in Mario 64". I'm most surprised they kept bullshit to a minimum. And the comments are, if anything, interesting, with remarks like "Genocide City WTF?" or "man what I'd give to play those levels...". Little they know that there are hacks here which allows you to play possible interpretations´ of these levels, like Sonic 2: Long Version and Esrael's Sonic 2 Delta. I'm not entirely sure if this is the reason why Retro is an ass today.
Well was a link to us or a name posted in the comments at all? If not, how could they know its our wiki? unless they stopped it and watched frame by frame looking for a name.
The first wiki shot quite obviously says "Sonic Retro" at the top. I get what's being said. They should've explicitly mentioned their sources. I'm just saying that the site's name is there :P
Well true after watching a second time I did see it. Feel free to post links in the comments even though its raping the servers. :v:
I actually enjoyed the video. It reminded me of when I stumbled upon STH Area 51 back in 2001. It was simply captivating to me at the time. Glad to see people are still learning about this sort of stuff.
You ain't kidding... it's been more than 10 years since I was all amazed by this as well, I remember one of my first posts was a Genocide City "theory" that was more just my imagination running wild with an unsubstantiated rumor of someone claiming they played it. Sometimes I still think of making my own obviously wrong interpretation of the zone... But yeah, shoulda blown their minds with the off center Dust Hill screenie.
Nope. Why get wound up over it? If you're a Sonic fan, you know about this site to some capacity (be it "that place with all the hacks" or "that site with the idiotic members who won't shut up about Sonic 4.") Besides, if it bugs you that much, just plug the site in the comments. Also, no, the site slowdown today had nothing to do with traffic. And no, it wasn't a really lazy April Fool's joke. It was some other components being stupid.
What bothers me the most about that video is the fact that they're citing all these wiki articles, yet they call Yuji Naka "Sonic's creator," hurdur. Also a little off-topic, but the guy who narrates those videos needs to express himself instead of just reading out the lines. It's like he's paid to be devoid of any and all emotion.
It's really more of a professionalism thing. Let's just say that if they were publishing this in a book, it would be considered plagiarism. + - Just saiyan.
