Question: Will I be able to switch between US and JP soundtracks for Metal Sonic's boss fight?
I think the different versions of Stardust Speedway are region-locked, either depending on what version of the game you have or depending on what you set the language as in-game.

Totally false. All regions have the Japanese version by default. The US version is selectable in the "Choose Music" menu, which is mainly used for unlockable bonus tracks on other stages. We actually technically don't know if it's even unlocked by default or not. It is, however, the only Choose Music menu song that is a full new remix and not just a direct rip of the old song.

Nope; for what it's worth I've only ever heard the JP Bad Future remix on videos, and the games have defaulted to English so I can't see any reason to believe they're Japanese-region consoles. It's also obviously not tied to language (which would likely bother the Brits if it were).

Okay, I've never ordered something to be delivered to me on release date, so when does the thing actually ship?

Jim what are you doing?
"Posting Sonic reviews"
It's 4 o Clock in the morning, why on Earth are you posting Sonic reviews?

It's not? If anything I like to avoid the thought. Nice to know the Red Rings are just for unlocking bonus stuff though.

As for Crisis City? The fact that it was allegedly a highly demanded level only seems to prove just how demented the Sonic fanbase has become, since it's still the same sprawling mass of ill-placed chasms and confused homing targets that it always was.
I think he's talking about you guys.......again.......

Well to be fair, if they were going to pick any level from Sonic 06 it was almost guaranteed to suck a little or be entirely different from the source. Crisis City was probably the best choice, maybe Kingdom Valley, but Planet Wisp looks like Kingdom Valley only sunny so it was for the best they didn't pick that unless they picked another level instead of Planet Wisp

Heh, and once again, the trend of 8's across the board continues. I'm surprised to see Jim praising this game, seeing as he bashed Colors.

I think Sega's gonna throw him a dinner party after this.

I think this is more aimed at those crazy Youtube commenters that defend Sonic 06 all the time.

This makes sense in context. He meant that it can be weird to switch from the two gameplay styles:

The only consistent issue is that it can be hard to recalibrate one's brain when switching between Sonics, as the two distinct gameplay styles can become a little jarring. It's not uncommon to wonder why Classic Sonic isn't homing onto anything, or why Modern Sonic's jumps feel so unusual. After a few stages, the confusion abates, but instances of crossed wires may crop up now and then.

I hope SEGA trolls him this time with a giant bug fumigation tent with the Generations' cover all over it. that would be hilarious.

I'd reckon that'd be for the best. Methinks Asteroid Coaster would've been a better choice for a final level than Planet Wisp was.

I agree with Asteroid Coaster or Starlight Carnival. From the context of the situation it sounds like Planet Wisp is the last level and the last level in Sonic games have been in space (well, boss fights but you catch my drift). Besides, Starlight Carnival had some sick in game moments as Sonic is running on the pink disintegrating road and the space fleet is emerging and fireworks are blasting in the background. That level made me feel like I was 6 year old gaping in amazement of how awesome it looked. But Asteroid Coaster does have the menacing feel that a last level should have more so than Planet Wisp or Starlight Carnival.
