About 4 years ago, my brother and I bought a collection of breakout games for the PC called "Break!" by eGames. One of the breakout games in this collection was a unique breakout game called Break GOLD! What was unique about this game was that it allowed the user to make a custom level pack using x86 68k asm scripts. With this feature in mind, my brother had the great idea of making a Super Mario themed breakout level set, while I had the idea of making a Sonic based levelset. Interestingly enough, it was this game that taught me the basics of 68k assembly, which I have found to be quite useful in making Sonic hacks .
My fangame "Chaotix CD" is the result of this idea. The fangame consists of two level packs, the first based upon Knuckles Chaotix, and the 2nd based upon Sonic CD (which is currently in the works).
Like the first part, the second part of CCD has monitors, enemies, and rings, which work and do obvious stuff like in any other Sonic game. Unlike the first part, similar to Sonic CD, the second part has a time travel system, which basically makes each level be 3-levels-in-1. In order to complete levels, the player will have to travel between each time zone in order to complete an objective. This objective, which can be found out by hitting the starpost in each level, ranges from defeating all enemies, finding the end-level sign, getting all rings, to defeating a boss.
The time travel works easier than it did in the original game of SCD. Like SCD, there are 3/4 time zones: past, present, bad future, and good future. The type of future is determined if you go in the past and destroy the cage in each zone. In order to change time zones, a past or future sign has to be hit, and then the player has to wait 10 seconds to change time zones. Time travel can be cancelled by moving the pad over a metal block on the right of the screen.
As of this demo, the first three zones (PPZ, CCZ, TTZ) have been completed, minus bosses and special stages. In a future release, special stages will be accessed by hitting a steel ring monitor, which is hidden in one of the time zones of one of the zones.
Enough about talking about the game, go try it! A demo of Break GOLD! can be downloaded here, and a demo of Chaotix CD part 2 here. Enjoy! C&C welcomed. And could someone make a gameplay video, plz?
