Um, why are you restating that? Stealth already responded with all the info you'll need... No need to waste posts restating what was just said a post above you.

I find it difficult to make SonED2 actually crash and generate "a windows error", especially under such simple circumstances. I have been trying, and I can't. If that's really all you did, then you must have some sort of system problem, because even if you didn't follow the instructions on getting GHZ to display, all that would happen is that it would display garbage in place of the level (The RAM has already been allocated). If the game data files do not exist in the right place, it will create "blank" versions in RAM. If the object def file does not exist in the right place, you will be told by a program-specific message (not "a windows error"). If that's NOT all you did, and/or the error you recieved does NOT actually have the word "Windows" in it, then it's very dumb to think that someone can help you when you give them such little information

No one's responded to my message yet. :) How do I get the level art for S3K to show up?

Your original question was unclear, and this one isn't much better. Sonic 3 levels aren't supported. If you're trying to edit Sonic 3, you're out of luck. If you're trying to move Sonic 3 art to Sonic 2, load Sonic 2 into original SonED, load a Sonic 3 save-state of the level with the art you're after, use File>Read Save-State>All, and then use File>Write Data>File>All. A bunch of ".dat" files that start with the letters "S2" will have been created. Copy "S2Block.dat", "S2Chunk.dat", and "S2Tile.dat" to your Sonic 2 project and rename them to replace the block, chunk, and tile data for the level you're editing. SonED doesn't load palettes from save-states, so you have to extract that from Sonic 3 or from the save-state manually. Now use SonED2 to open the project who's files you modified, and you have Sonic 3 tiles in a Sonic 2 level. Alternatively, make a PCX image of the tiles you want to use, import them using SonED2's tile/block/chunk import feature, and build the larger parts and apply solidity manually. The first method is not covered in SonED or SonED2's documentation, but this one is

Sorry. I was wanting to see if the art in Sonic 3 would show up in SonED2. I was wanting to port some level art from Crackers and Chaotix, but I guess I can't do that?

Sonic 3 art to Sonic 2 would be done as I told you. Chaotix/Crackers art to Sonic 2 can't be done with SonED/SonED2 unless you use SonED2 to import the art from an image and rebuild the solidity manually. Chaotix/Crackers art to Sonic 3 can't be done at all with SonED2 because SonED2 doesn't support Sonic 3

Just for clarification... Sonic 3 wouldn't work at all in SonED2, even if you split all the files needed?

I imagine not, more than likely due to the moduled Kosinski compression on the mappings/art not being fully cracked yet, and thusly support would be limited/incomplete, and not worth implementing until it could be entirely feasable.

It tells me that it really is an actual "Windows Error", but it doesn't tell me what the problem is, since all Windows ever says is "Something bad happened but I'm not going to tell you what it was HA HA"

SonED2 is virtually impossible to crash, so I can't tell you what the problem is if it has to be anything to do with SonED2 rather than some actual system problem you're having that just happens to trigger when you're trying to use SonED2 (among other things). It wouldn't be the first time I've been blamed for things that turned out to have absolutely nothing to do with me, even involving SonED2.

What you'll have to do is tell me step-by-step EXACTLY what you did, and if you don't remember, you'll have to do it all again so you can know what to tell me. I have to know EXACTLY how you set up SonED2 (what folder you put it in, what files you put in that folder, what modifications you made to the setup), and EXACTLY how you set up Sonic 1 (where you put it, how you handled extracting the data, what modifications you made to that setup after extracting that data), anything else you did to the setup (any modifications you might have made to the project files or object def files, if you even opened them whatsoever in any kind of editor, whether or not you moved them, if they are all in the correct relative locations), a step-by-step walkthrough of EXACTLY what you did from the moment you turned on SonED2 to the moment it crashed, including what you did inside and outside SonED2, AND whatever else you had running at the time.

In fact, that's exactly what I want you to do. Start over from scratch, follow the instructions, and don't do anything "wierd". Describe to me EXACTLY what you did the first time around as I asked, and tell me the same things about THIS time, even if it works this time around

    Whatever catches my fancy
I'm pretty sure you can view those error reports without sending them. It'll likely be a whole lot of unintelligeable crap to you, but it'll certainly help Stealth pinpoint the problem.

Well, as I got a crash myself, I shall Follow this advice, and tell you what happened to me about 20 minutes ago. I retested it and got a slightly better responce, but a unhelpful one all the same.

Step 1: Finally getting around to extracting v1.02. I placed it into a new folder I aptly names, 'Sonic Uno'

Step 2: I place my edited ROM, that works, in the s1 folder. I rename in S1.

Step 3: I click 'Split' and it splits.

    Step 4: I open SonED2.

Step 5: I select 'Open project file' and browse the s1 folder.

    Step 6: s1 --> Project --> mz1

Step 7: SUPER CRASH! Computer blacks out, the music I've been playing starts to malfuntion, the computer goes black, the moniter displays the turning off funtion, and the computer dies for a couple of seconds, before restarting.

Step 8: I log back in. Windows informs me it survived a severe problem. I go check otu what happened.

I do Steps 1-6 over again.

Step 7, ACT 2: SonED2 crashes, But this time I stay on a non-dead computer. SonED2 finally closes after a few minutes of not responding and ignoring my END NOW task.

Step 8, ACT 2: I head on here and Tell Tweaker, he directs me here.

So, can you tell me what the heck happened?

You can't use edited roms with SonED 2 coz all the data will have been relocated. Splitting the file will cause it to extract random data for layouts and art and stuff, and will cause SonED 2 to crash. It's been pointed out many times that you need to split a clean ROM and not an edited one.

Stephen did a fine job of explaining where I went wrong. You don't have to jump in and do some pointless post just for the sake of flaming.

I'm sorry if this is about SonED but when ever I try to save a rom, then test it out, it seems like nothing changes. I know I'm doing it right, and I'm not downloading SonED2 because setup gives me a headace!

You must use the File -> Write -> Rom menu before saving.
