Help me retro, before I cry. It's been 5 years since I've bought a new laptop.

So literally 10 minutes ago, my laptop decided not to boot. I've already replaced the hard-drive once, and rather than buying another one I've decided it's time for an upgrade.

I want to be able to:

- Multi-task, quite heavily.
- Run decent spec games, with small lag.

I have no knowledge of anything other than RAM, HD size and processor speed.

Help me please, find a laptop for under £600.

P.S My current computer was a Samsung R40

Well I can't help much other than offer you a few pointers:
- Don't go for integrated graphics.
- Look for a laptop that has a screen resolution higher than 1366x768, since that resolution is horrible.

I prefer a slim and light 1366x768 to a 1440x960 beast.

If the laptop is going to spend a majority of it's time on a desk go for one with a nice screen, if you carry it around then try going for one of those 11 inch screen laptops, my father has one and while he doesn't play games on it he has no problems with it, plus it has a 6 hour battery life because it's small.

If you want to play modern games on a laptop I would suggest looking at the new asus coming out, I forget it's name but it's suppose to be rather good for a fair price, if I find details on it again I will link them here.

I have an Intel 82855 onboard GFX Chip in my laptop (FUjitsu Lifebook S7010) and HL2 runs very playable.

That's nice. Sadly though, that wasn't the case for me.

Hah hah! Heh heh. COCKIN' n' ROCKIN', FASTPENIS. World cockin' championship. Hah man yea PENIS. Since you want to play games, I'd recommend going for a laptop that has ATI graphics.

I've had good experience with Asus laptops, and Lenovo's Thinkpad laptops are supposed to be good. Dunno though.

I'm guessing since you're asking for a laptop portability is absolutely critical
A friend of mine has a gaming laptop, unfortunately it's Alienware so it cost like 2000 bux

That Asus K50ID looks quite nice. I'll look more into that one, thanks Hodgy.
