I hope you read this carefully before posting (I know you didn't ) http://www.bluespheresforever.com/gameguide.php Anyway to load your custom levels, you have to save them under the "data" directory inside the game installation folder. After that you have to click the File > Game stages menu in the level edtior, and the add the file you saved before, and then close your editor. The game must load it. The ARROW KEYS(move) and SPACE(jump) have been implemented in the latest fix. Download it from here: http://www.bluespheresforever.com/downloads.php Hope this helps.
I'm gonna give it a try to see how much I like it. I noticed on the game's site that I can implement my own textures/layout board patterns. By the way, in Normal mode, do I have the option to input level codes? And I should also suggest these: The ability to record gameplay (both audio and video) so I can post my creations on YouTube Music select -- you can use these as base songs: Default S3K special stage, Gumball Machine, Sonic 3D Blast (both Genesis and Saturn versions), Knuckles Chaotix special stage
I know it runs in windowed mode if it can't run in full screen, but I'd like there to be an option for switching between fullscreen and widescreen in the options. Also, I think I was able to phase through some bumpers somehow. Other than that, great work! I just wish I had a better computer so that I could run this more smoothly, in better quality/resolution.
It's visible at about 11:07 in the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRqQqC6ly-E&t=10m10s You'll also see the ring count start at 57 (the hack here is based on Blue Sphere, so it counts down) like it should be. I've also made the layouts for stages '8' and '16' from that series (both the secret special stages). They just need testing to make sure I got the colors right.
So, this stage I made crashes. The others I've made worked fine. This one crashes as soon as I get a blue sphere. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32409323/Azu_STG_02.dat Edit: Just looked that guide. Nevermind
Erbuka, I do have another question: Is there a way that I can record gameplay (both audio and video) so I can upload gameplay videos to YouTube? I'd suggest that you add a movie/.AVI recording option like it's done on emulators. I'm not messing with HyperCam and all that other stuff.
Adding such a feature is not trivial, maybe I'll do, but for now I'm focused on adding other feats, fixing bugs and improve performance... Anyway I used playclaw to record video and audio and worked pretty well.
I'll probably download the audio/video recorder that you use. Hope that it's freeware. I can use it for Blue Sphere as well as other games I play.
Just to save a little hassle, I've uploaded those extra S3&K stages. They can be found here (click the Download button). Probably wouldn't take much time to re-make, but I figure if it can be saved, then why take it?
Thanks man, you saved a lot of my time!! ^^ I will include those on the next release, but I'm not rebuilding the installer or uploading fixes until the next release. This is what I'm working on at the moment: 1) a new level editor which will allow the editing of the stage's sky (background and stars colors) 2) checkerboard textures have been removed, they can be generated procedurally by specifing the 2 colors 3) optimizing the game for multicore architectures 4) double-click on a stage file from the Resource Explorer will run the game and play the selected stage. These things are almost done, and I could upload a new release in a few days. Anyway I'm really busy with university at the moment and I don't know exactly when I'll do it
I'm about to publish new version with a few bug fixes and improvements. Someone suggested me to move Sonic down because he could barely see what was in front of him. Below you can see the result after a few tries. While now you can see better what's ahead, I don't like how Sonic looks a bit fat. What do you think?
Sonic's altered Y-position, relative to the original Genesis version, is definitely a match. But he doesn't appear too oversized -- it's just right. I'll actually start trying out the game whenever the next release comes out.
It looks absolutely amazing. Could anybody please let me know the specs I'll need to run this? If it's something like Portal 2, I'm fine. Generations-level requirements, and I'm going to have to pass this up.
Yeah the requirements are quite high, I'm working on it, but I can't seem to lower them for now at high quality. Anyway here it is a new version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/50837621/Release.rar The website isn't updated with this, just because I didn't plan to release in its current state, but, you can try it. The level editor is new, and there's not an updated guide on the website. Anyway this version should run better from the performance POV. Also the collision system should be fine even with low fps. You can press TAB while playing to show the fps/stat display. I get 20 fps at high quality, 30/40 at medium and 60 at low at 1366x768 on my laptop with a GeForce GT230M, which is more or less equivalent to a GeForce 8600 GTS
I'm glad you fixed most of the issues from before, but what's remained are the menus with their misaligned and garbled looking text. Main menu (misaligned) Spoiler New Game menu (misaligned, garbled text) Spoiler Custom Stage menu (misaligned, garbled text) Spoiler The Options menu crashed the game on me every time, so I couldn't access it. The CPU usage is ridiculous.
Well, I have tons of problems navigating the menu. But I can play one stage at least! It seems to run at a full 60 FPS on my machine, although I am just basing it off visuals alone and with no counter (I should get FRAPs...). Here are my specs: Windows 7 64-Bit AMD Phenom II X6 1075T Thuban 3.0GHz R6950 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 2GB 8GB of RAM DDR3 1600MHz BTW, whether you finish this or not it makes an excellent portfolio piece and you should be proud!
