SONIC RESURGE, is a fan game that came to mind when asking myself "What if?". Coming up with many case-scenarios of a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 that takes place in an alternate universe. I've experimented with many ideas for my take on a Sonic game and mostly scrapped them either because, I felt they weren't good enough, or after some time I just didn't really like it. There's not a history of how "SONIC RESURGE" came to be, I was just sitting around sketching, and playing some Sonic Mania when it all came to me at once. Jotted the idea down, and I'm now ready to take action. After battling Robotnik's latest creation the Death Egg Robo, Sonic scampered to make it out of the Death Egg quickly before it had become ruins. Unfortunately for Robotnik he couldn't eject himself out of the cockpit of his now self-destructing giant mech and had suffered a severe injury which left him nearly immobile. Using the last of his ingenious mind before he had developed a machine that could possibly keep him alive as an Artificial Intelligence. *A Year later when the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 3/&Knuckles was supposed to happen* Sonic and Tails are flying on the tornado heading towards an island that Tails had marked on his radar. The reason being that Sonic and Him were gathering strange readings from this island and were heading out to investigate it. Arriving at Azure Paradise Island they run into a batch of Robotnik's Badniks which seem to be looking for the Chaos Emeralds. This is where the adventure begins (reading over this now makes me feel like I paid too much attention to Sonic Mania's story. Oops.)
