It's not weird. When you get speed shoes on any other stage, the music doesn't actually speed up in real time, it switches to another track that begins with a speed up remix of the song, that then transitions back to the normal song for the remainder of the track, and then, when that track ends, it goes back to the normal song. They play the SA Speed-up theme because they don't have alternate fast tracks for every remix in the game.
Like I didn't already know this. It was weird to me since I wasn't expecting this tune to show up. In retrospect it makes sense though, since I what else are they going to pick?
Spoiler LOOK OUT, THAT MIGHT BE A HOMING SHOT. GUESS WHAT SONICS, THAT'S A HOMING SHOT. BETTER WATCH OUT FOR THAT HOMING SHOT be sure to switcKEEP AN EYE OUT, THAR BE HOMIN' SHOTS ABOUT After dying about 5 times and going through this over and over, I was almost ready to kill myself. And this is coming from someone who loves the new voices..
Spoiler After you doing the running down the building bit, you'll enter a car garage. To the right of this path is a hidden barricaded bath. Destroy the barricade and take the path. You'll run across the side of a building. Take the upper springs (not the lower springs!) and then go across the highway turns. After the checkpoint the plain should turn 2D. It's here the secret Ring lies. Don't go to fast, and keep your eyes out for an easy-to-miss wall jump area above you between two buildings. Follow the path after you wall-jump up and you'll eventually reach the Ring and an ice view of the sunset, and then an awesome secret Rocket section that involves the rocket flying between a bunch of sky scrapers and over rooftops. Or it might have been this ring, as there was two well hidden ones in my opinion. Spoiler At the very beginning of the stage, boost and then jump right before going down the hill and you should access a hidden rail path with a red ring. This is at the VERY beginning of Modern Speed Highway.
Oh help needed Spoiler Charmy says there is a red ring in planet wisp Act 2 that involves a cart moving to the left, and he says make sure you get on it at the very top. WTF is he talking about and were is it?
Hey, some guy's truckin' it on a list of the Red Ring Locations. I believe he's at Modern Seaside Hill as of now. EDIT: Oh, and Toxic Caves for Classic Chemical Plant? Winning.
Everyone laugh at corneliab's ignorance, he was clearly ignorant. Spoiler There, now your snark is justified.
Well, got an e-mail from Graingergames.co.uk saying the CE's been dispatched by First Class Recorded Royal Mail. So I'm *hoping* it'll arrive tomorrow, for when I return and visit home from Uni for the weekend. Can. Not. Wait. But I'll probably be playing little of it this weekend with so much visiting to do back home.
I know what you mean, I like to go with Toxic Caves for Classic Chemical Plant, and SSZBFUS for Speed Highway Classic :D
Been avoiding this thread like the plague because of spoilers. But something arrived at my door an hour ago and I couldn't stop myself from posting it. My first exam starts tomorrow, but its just so tempting to play! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I came. By the way, thank you guys for the spoiler tags. I, sadly, won't be able to get this game until probably December.
Man this game is so incredible. I really like the way Modern Sonic has finally been set up. Seaside Hill Modern in particular is an amazing mixture of speed and platforming.
Hey guys! Please add me / post your Xbox Live gamertags, I'd love to share / challenge you all to the time attack modes / see your times! My gamertag is: Vangar2 Let the Sonic Retro challenge begin!
Anyone else find it odd that the bosses are piss easy up until Spoiler Egg Dragoon? Which is damn annoying I might say. It took me forever to get the strategy down.
Egg Dragoon was surprisingly easy. All of his attacks were easy to see coming. The only "hard" boss was the final boss for how hard it is to see rings and the fact there's too much talking going on. (HOLY HELL SHUT UP I KNOW IT'S A HOMING SHOT JESUS CHRIST WHERE'S THE MUTE BUTTON) Even then, it was a pretty worthless final boss. I'd put it at level with the Nega Wisp Queen in how crap it was. It never really felt like, "...oh damn, it's the final fight." Perfect Chaos, if anything, had that down and he was just a mid-game boss. It doesn't help that all the bosses, even in Hard mode, are utter jokes. Very disappointing. It just feels that, while Sega's heart was in the right place, they dropped the ball on a lot of things. Bosses and odd loading burps on the PS3 (and apparently on the 360 version; on the PS3 version, it takes a long time for music to start playing when loading up a modern stage) are just a few of the problems this game has. Spoiler And both Super Sonics are just neutered. Classic Super Sonic has no notable advantages like a higher jump or faster speed and Modern Super Sonic is just awful and has no point in being used. I do hope that in a future update this is fixed, even if it breaks the game. Classic getting a higher jump and increased speed and modern playing more like his Colors variant would be dandy. Right now, it's an underwhelming post-game prize. Also, I'm not fond that holding down-diagonal doesn't make Classic Sonic roll into a ball. You must push directly down while moving to trigger that. It makes taking out enemies more of a hassle than it should. This is more a personal play style preference though.
I'm ready to fucking murder the Doppelganger in Modern Crisis City. I usually have no issues with time attacks but beating this little bugger is the last remaining mission I have left. I think more than the doppleganger, it's the overall layout of Modern CC that's really ticking me off. It seems the platforms are always just a *tad* too high, or a *bit* too far to maximize high speed platforming. I didn't notice this so much in other levels but CC's overall flow/layout - particularly those lava stomp rocks - is infuriating. That said, I really love Classic Crisis City...love the trolling!!
