I had this problem with a demo of Generations I played at Best Buy. Based on some reports I've heard, it might actually vary from each individual PS3 to the next. :psyduck: Don't quote me on that though.

How do you get that hidden red ring in classic Speed Highway?

+ - I realise I have in fact just quoted you on that =P

Well doesn't that just suck. I really hope it works in the retail version, while I believe the PS3 pad is perfectly suited to play Generations (I use the D-pad for old Chubby) it would be rad to use my USB pad and rock the nostalgia level up to 11. Oddly, the modern sections didn't really suffer from the input lag, and because no button was mapped to boost, it made the experience seem a lot more like the Dreamcast games.

God knows why I just played Sonic 4, although I finally got into one of the special stages (Sonic always decided that he had better things to do and ran off the screen before I could jump in XD), it has given me a headache.

He doesn't. I've played them for years, and I have just checked again to make sure it wasn't something I was so used to I didn't realise, and he doesn't. Generation's has got it spot on. In Sonic Advance 3 and Sonic 4 he gains speed jumping, but not the classics.

Jus thought I should point that out.

I have a question. Will the PC version have online leader boards as well?

    Yes, handled by Steam/Valve

Then I wonder what would become of modding the PC version. VAC bans you for illegal modification of source dll and exe, but I'm not sure about Steamworks.

I swear he does, because I tested last night. I was able to reach maximum running speed without declines/rolling/speed shoes from a standing start with only repeated jumping in Sonic 1, which I can't do in generations.

It might not be the console itself OR the game. As said many times, the TV used ITSELF can be the cause of input lag. On the demo on my ye-olde Standard def TV I get no input lag at all :specialed:

This sounds more like people having shitty TVs.

  11. Also when I ran it on the 360 in 1080p it had slight control lag as opposed to 720p which had none. How retarded is that?

Generations PC doesn't use VAC, and even then VAC doesn't use heuristics, if the hack isn't listed in their database it won't get flagged.

  13. VAC for a single-player game would be stupid anyway, even if there are leaderboards.

    Just beat the game.

The last fight was pure, unadulterated jank. Constant (awful) voices jabbering on and some pretty annoying controls. Also, this game has proven to me that the current set of writers are NOT a good fit for this series. They're not funny or clever, and I found nearly everything uttered to be pretty embarrassing. The writing isn't charming or lighthearted- it's just juvenile and annoying. Also, It really doesn't help that nearly everyone gives some terrible voice performances (seriously I think I may have preferred the 4kids cast).

That said, this game is awesome outside of anything regarding voices and scenes. FANTASTIC stage designs.

Yes, the main cause of input lag is actually due to the TV more often than the game. Mostly has to do with HDTV refresh rates. I have no problems with my Toshiba HD TV, though, never have. I'm not sure but, would HDMI connection help any?

  16. That's what made me lag.

I'm using playing the 360 version on an HDTV at 1080p and don't seem to be having any problems. You can't get a much higher refresh rate that what my tv has though. and I'm using HDMI. I do have the new 360 so that might make a difference(one of my friends older ones seems to have problems playing newer games)

Also... This game is absolutely fantastic! Yeah the final boss sucks though. Only good final boss we've had as supersonic was in s3&k IMO

I'm running 720p through HDMI, and there's no noticeable lag whatsoever when using the PS3 controller. It only goes squiffy with the USB pad.

I played both demos on each console on an LCD TV and experienced no noticeable lag. I would agree it is probably other people's TVs/connections and not the game. I heard a lot about the PS3 version having issues, but they did not exist for me.

Man, I just realized that grabbing the sneakers when there's custom music playing will trigger the Sonic Adventure speed-up theme.

That's a weird but cool touch.
