Next year I'll definitely have something for it. I'll easily have plenty of time to get nearly, if not all of, my whole hack done.

Wow! Congrats Tweaker and Sonic 1 Megamix.
    Good work Rika!

Pfiew, it's finally done. I will do my best to enter in 2007. At least, 3 or 4 levels of 5 might be ready. Hey! I have to re-win my own trophy :P

Since the contest is over should there be a page to download all the entered hacks? =P

Yeah... we know who won but we don't know what many of them did. It's kinda like an art contest where only the judges get to see the majority of the stuff.

I'm not saying the contestants should release their entries if they don't want to, but I feel there should be a new rule for the next contest to prevent this situation.

Not everyone wants to release their hacks though and might submit buggy hacks into the contest. Bringing up any rule to force people to either release their hack or show off things which they want to keep hidden until release will only prevent some people from entering. It's only the judges opinion that really matters in the contest anyway, and someday, the persons hack will be released in a playable state.

Then the normally provide a link to it, rather then PM. that's is what everyone pretty much did, I think.

Also, for release hacks... I think the creator of the hack release it when wants. But since there's a copy of it going for the judges, after the contest it should be release - everybody is curious.

Then it should be all compiled into one post at the end of the contest, so we won't have to search through ten pages worth. =P

People could always just submit a demo of the hack, with the completed stuff they have at the moment.
Also, if the hack is not in a "playable state", it might not be fair to submit it against other complete and betatested hacks, even if it has some "neat yet still not correctly implemented" stuff. But this way you could select the stuff you want to be seen, and polish it till everything works flawlessly.

And then, the rest of us won't be like "I wonder why did X person won".

Well the only way I can explain this would be to take my hack as an example. I've done quite a lot of technical things which are all complete, but I only have 1 zone 100% complete. I've done a lot of Act 1 for the 2nd zone but not all. This means that the hack is hardly playable for long, so it wouldn't win any awards in the layout department or anything. Now, it may well win stuff in the technical department. Is it fair to prevent someone from entering a hack which they are submitting for the technical aspect, just because most of it isn't complete? If a hack is in a decent enough state to be released, then the creator would have released it. A release should be made at the discretion of the author, not because that person is being pressured into it for the sake of a contest. If people want to know why the hack won something, they should have a little patience and wait to see it in all its glory.

I know if I had to choose between releasing a hack I didn't want to and being stopped from entering the contest, I'd rather not enter.

I have to say, it does seem silly to have a contest where the winners can't be seen by the general public- I mean, if you don't want to release it I'd say simply don't enter it, I mean, it is a yearly contest.

Personally, I'd rather see a hack in it's full glory, and THEN realize why it won.

If I choose not to release my hack, I'm not doing it. End. If that means I have to miss out a contest, then so be it. It's fucking retarded to force someone to relinquish thier privacy just to enter in a competition. Judging is left to the judges, and nobody else.
