The time stones are still there for you to collect in order to get the good ending the "easy way", as well as the usual destroy all Eggman's Machines without the time stones to get the good ending. The only challenge or difference is if you want to obtain both achievements at the same time in 1 single playthrough.

Not for nothin', but I always found travelling to the Past era and destroying the robot-making machine to be a hell of a lot easier than getting all seven Time Stones. Those later special stages are a bitch; the later robot-making machines, on the other hand, are a cinch to find.

They should divide the Achievements as follows:
  • Future Maker: Destroy all Robot Transporters in a single playthrough.
  • Freedom Fighter: Destroy all Metal Sonic Holograms in a single playthrough.
  • Treasure Hunter: Collect all Time Stones in a singe playthrough.
  • Time Savior : fulfill the requirements for "Future Maker", "Freedom Fighter", and "Treasure Hunter" all in a single playthrough.

Also, please no december 31st release.

You people need to keep in mind that PSN updates on Tuesdays and XBL on Wednesdays. Considering that they managed to do some of their other multi-platform releases in the same week, and they promised December, this narrows things down quite a bit. Depending on your console of choice, there are only 3 possible release dates remaining. (Not counting Mobile or PC releases, since those aren't updated on a fixed schedule.) I don't own an Xbox, so I don't follow their store, but the Playstation store does not update the week after XMAS. (You can refer to their update history to see that.) Their last big digital release (Daytona USA) had it's release date announced about two weeks in advance.

Given these facts, it's coming to PSN on [or before] December 20th and XBL on [or before] December 21st. There, done. Best of all, if I'm wrong you won't be disappointed.

Edit: Added [or before] to help you understand that this is a prediction and not fact. In past years, the PSN store was not updated during the week between XMAS and New Years, leaving only 2 remaining possible dates as of today.

PC is the only thing I have for this... what were the odds? D: But here's to hope your dates are the best bet we're getting for the games.

No S2 physics?

Quote

Did the option to switch between Sonic CD-style physics and Sonic 2 and 3 physics make the cut?

The game runs on the CD style physics. (In other words, no. – ed.)

Ignore all that.

The Taxman @ SSMB said:

I think the question wasn't worded in the best way for Ken. The S2/3k physics and camera are indeed there, tied to the Spindash setting. Had the question been "Is there an option for the S2 spindash" the answer would have been yes.

[Interviewer:] Getting back to Sonic CD, the new version expands the field of view to widescreen without distorting the sprites’ proportions. How did you accomplish this?
[Ken Balough:] That's a trade secret. :)
Oh, come on! I honestly don't know what's more idiotic, the question or the answer. The screen was widened simply by including more stuff on either side; no alteration of proportions was ever an issue.

Clearly it's the question that's idiotic, but most of the questions in these kind of interviews are, for one reason or another. Ken's answer is a genius piece of PR, instead of saying "How do you think, dumbass?" or just saying how it's [obviously] done, he implies there's great effort and technique in achieving the 'effect'. Brand managing as you truly imagined it.

It's an obvious coy answer to a really stupid question. No need to read further into it.

I think Ken's answer was great. There really isn't an answer to that question, but being the good PR guy he is, he found one.

You're all right, of course! Clearly I couldn't cut it in PR, way too literal-minded. ;)

Now that you mention it, perhaps this amazing feat was achieved using loaned technology from our friends at CSI, like a repurposed edition of the algorithm they use to magically generate precise detail from seemingly hopelessly pixellated ID cards and number-plates!

The public needs to be aware of the sheer potential of modern technology such as this.

I like how he also mentions how Sonic Adventure 2 and Knuckles Chaotix are also highly requested remakes. So they know this. It's just a matter of when.

Hopefully from here on out though they treat their rereleases with Sonic CD esq love and not just throw it in an emulator
