Really glad that none of this kind of stuff is on the Steam version. Is there any way to access the older versions on mobile?

Sorry, I'm just cynical towards most mobile games by their very nature. It sucks that an apparent good one got devolved into a crap product. Just seeing the video you made of how Sonic CD plays on an iphone X of all devices just. That's absurd. Complete and total garbage.

I just am happy I still have Sonic CD on my PS3, along with the Genesis Ultimate Collection. Relying on Sega Forever seems like nothing but heartache.

The graphics glitch is completely game-breaking, but as far as I can tell right now, it's exclusive to the iPhone X; it's not hitting Android devices and other iPhone models. With that in mind, it should be a relatively easy fix. It doesn't excuse the ad-focused setup of the game, the sound issues or the fact that the game went out with such a bug in the first place. EDIT: Also can't restore purchases in S1 without it timing out...

Essentially, Sega's forcing you to buy the game you paid for, twice. It's bizarre and insulting. Those other bugs are also just totally amateur. I have no clue why they'd handle a game release like this, other than they either don't give a crap, or they're woefully ill equipped to be programming mobile games in the first place.

The ad thing is just disgusting. You pay money and still get bombarded with ads... Like, that's just why I hate bothering with mobile/free-to-play games. I don't want to see ads. They're a bother. The fact some games don't even let you escape them even when you fork over cash is just ridiculous.

Like remember how cool it was when Sonic 1 and 2 were updated from the shitty emulated version to the taxman version, and that was for free? We need more of that and less of this.

For what it's worth, stuff like this is why I will only pay for things that let you keep offline-capable installers.

I assume Android is a little bit more complicated since it required a network connection to download assets, but yes for the iOS builds as long as you saved copies of them. You can just manually install the .ipa via iTunes.

The problem with this is that it is now much more difficult to do that. To prepare iTunes to be available on the Windows store, Apple removed the App Store from iTunes in an update last year so that it wouldn't contain a competing app store. Thus you can no longer use the current version of iTunes to download apps and/or backup & install them with a Mac or PC. The older versions of iTunes still work fine as of now and can be used for that purpose, but who knows how long that will continue working. I don't think they'll completely remove the ability to manually install apps on an iOS device in the future because enterprises need that functionality for corporate apps, but I do worry that eventually it may not be possible to back them up. It does look like some third party software exists already to do this, so maybe it'll be okay.

Unfortunately, you still can't share the binaries since they're tied to your account. But you can still install them if you have them.

Noticed that my copy of Sonic CD on my iPhone 6S was updated to the Sega Forever version.

Despite having already paid for it, ads show up when opening up the game. There doesn't seem to be a way to reverse the update. There's a "restore purchases" button in the settings menu (within help and options), but it's broken / pressing it does nothing.

In a playthrough of Collision Chaos and Tidal Tempest Act 1, this version is also randomly pausing my play sessions (going through Collision Chaos) and the rolling sound effect doesn't work.

    Excellent work, lads. /s

I'm genuinely curious: did you actually stop for a second and try to figure out where my seemingly obvious question was getting at, or did your brain just instantly label me as a moron and give the subject no further thought?

I assumed that you assumed that Yeow assumed that there supposed to be a sound effect playing when Sonic is in rolling state.
Although to me it was obvious that he meant curling sound (or whatever it's called)

No, none of the Sonic CD versions has a roll sound effect as far as I'm aware.

What bug fixes? This update has no fixes, it just breaks shit.

If you mean the changes prior to the Sega Forever release that the original PC version doesn't have, I think there will be a solution for that eventually.

I actually did watch some playthroughs to make sure that was supposed to be in the original game and I honestly swear I did hear the rolling/curling/whatever sound effect in the game. Maybe I just heard someone spindash I guess. :/

So OK, that's not a bug, that was in the original. My mistake. The Sega Forever version does still randomly pause during playthroughs though.
