I really wish there were two Sonic 4 Episode 2 threads: one for arguing, and one for actual news, speculation, etc. I'm getting pretty tired of checking the thread just to see page upon page of "THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE AND ALSO I HATE YOU AND YOUR TASTE IS SHIT" or "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS GAME WILL BE FUCKING AWESOME AND ALSO FUCK YOU"
The apologists for the game would never resist the temptation to come into the "Sonic 4 sucks" thread and tell us we're wrong.
And now we've reached the point where people begin complaining about complaining. THIS IS THE TRUE SONIC CYCLE PEOPLE.
We really should know better by now shouldn't we? The complainers still end up with a shite game, and the complain about complainers just make us even madder and want to complain even more. I think for once we should all shut the fuck up, just in case this Sonic 4 farce is delayed for months like last time while they pretend they're fixing shit. Just let the game come out as it is as quickly as possible... and then don't buy it.
What I don't get is, if it's a Sonic game and it's fun, why does it matter whether or not it's like the classics?
I didn't like episode 1, I'll say that right now. But not because of the fact that it had weird physics, or plastic-looking graphics, or bad music. It just wasn't fun. I wouldn't care about the stupid physics and graphics and all that other crap if the game was just fun, but it wasn't.
I cared a lot about the physics because I felt it really hurt the gameplay. Generations' Classic Sonic physics weren't identical to the older games, but it controlled well enough to where I didn't really have any control issues with the Classic Sonic stages. I also strongly disliked the graphics and the music's style because it trashed the game's presentation. Graphics aren't everything, but there's a lot of games out there that make up for graphical faults by having an interesting style that was well thought out. Sonic 4: Episode 1 failed miserably at achieving that. Then with the music, out of all the game series out there, I tend to enjoy Sonic music the most. I absolutely love S3&K's soundtrack and for its sequel to have a shitty soundtrack, it irritates me. The forced limitations style just came off absolutely horrible and I hate the way that game sounds. Shame too because some of the songs had a lot of potential if only they were pulled off better. Even Splash Hill Act 1 could have sounded miles better if it had better direction.
Both of those remixes sound much more musically interesting than we got, yet they both placed certain limitations in their music. Just listening to some other remixes right now, I think Sonic 4's music could have been really good if it was just pulled off much better, but it wasn't. A shame really. Despite all of these negative aspects of the game, I actually liked this game. While I pretty much lost interest with the game after getting all of the achievements, I definitely didn't dislike it. I disliked a lot of aspects that I felt really hurt the game, but I had some fun playing it. Not a ton of fun, but enough to where I would give it a 7/10. For comparison, S3&K is my favorite game of all time and outdoes Episode 1 of Sonic 4 in pretty much every way. In a perspective of just basing it solely on what it offers, it's fun but nothing spectacular and has a lot of issues. As a sequel to S3&K, it's an extremely unworthy sequel that should've never had that name. Since Episode 2 has resolved the physics and graphics issues, hopefully it'll be a much better game but it's still looking to be an unworthy sequel to S3&K, just not in as extreme of a quality gap.

It's never going to be a MegaDrive game, and it's never going to sound or look or even physically feel exactly like the originals, but it is called Sonic 4, like it or not, so somewhere along the line we're going to have to realise that and stop trying to make it a MegaDrive game as much as possible. It's as similar to the originals as how NSMBWii is to SMB3. For some reason though people still feel like it has to emulate the originals and cling on to that jope even though it won't happen, at least, that's the vibe I get whenever I come here.
Except neither of the New Super Mario Bros. games are called Super Mario Bros. 4. If Nintendo did that, they would've raised expectations insanely high but Nintendo was smart to not call either of those games that. Hell, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a far more worthy sequel to SMB3 than Sonic 4: Episode 1 was to S3&K. If NSMBW was called SMB4 instead, I probably wouldn't be pissed since I really enjoyed that game a lot except for some of the dumb motion controls. That, and the art style was pretty unimpressive.

But remember, budget affects quality! Jun must have received just a portion of what he received on Generations!
I call bullshit. Amateurs in their attic can produce great music on equipment that costs barely any money in relative terms. You may well have just posted an example! I bet Tee has less money than Jun, in any case. Not a good way to support your argument.
Budget has no direct relation to quality. It may affect effort, but that's just excusing laziness on the basis that the composer wasn't paid enough, which is a pretty crap line.
Besides, neither budget nor effort need be factors if the composer has simply made bad decisions. Jun wasn't forced to use bad instruments by the inhumane economic climate of the downloadable marketplace. What was your point, again?

Seriously people, just let Sega make the damn game before you people start complaining about it. We're literately 1 month away from this game being launched into the wild on Nvidia devices, so just wait until then to make fun of it! Don't go at it right away and force a delay in the process! Wait it out!

Yep. Amateurs can waste their time as they want. If you pay less, you'll receive less.
I do good design for free, but if I'm being paid, I'll deliver what I receive. And in quality I mean, the songs are short and simple arrangement-wise, I like them though.

The cost of making music of high quality is not very expensive and doesn't take long to write you know. I've been to studio's that have cost £100 for the day with an engineer so it's should be reasonable price to get let's say sixteen tunes in less than a month. And like what Guesswho said, Jun is an employee so he's gonna get paid regardless.

You're kidding yourself if you think the reverse wouldn't happen. =P
You know, I really think we need to let SEGA do there own thing. Sonic fans as a whole seem to complain a TON(Though rightfully so, I suppose), and while sometimes ideas do get presented and are actually thought out and well done(Generations being a fine example), alot of the time it's just masses of people yelling and echoing the same old white noise that usually pops out as either dumping on a game that hasn't even been released yet, or once in a while an immature retort that states the opposite and tells the other one to piss off. I'm not saying we can't complain, but I am saying we do it too much for exactly the same stuff.

About the latest updates and the updated website...First, I have to say I like the music and think it's a huge improvement from the way music was in Episode 1. I mean it sounds close to Episode 1 but it has improvements at least and it's catchy. I was hoping they would just have the music even more close to the Genesis style or even Sonic CD style or to just do away with trying to emulate the Genesis and just use regular nice sounding music that fits those pretty backgrounds. I'm curious as to how the levels music sounds now. As long as nothing is super annoying and cringe worthy like some songs in Episode 1 were (Casino Street) I'll be fine.
I actually like the storyline / plot of what we know of so far; I like how they are linking some stuff from Episode 1 with Episode 2 such as Mad Gear and Lost Labyrinth. I'm actually curious now as to what they are going to be doing with that. My only gripe is in a way it sorta messes with the original Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 storyline / plot because of Episode 1 being a massive rehash fest of levels from those two games. As I've mentioned earlier, I like how they are trying to combine and incorporate story elements from Sonic 2 and Sonic CD into one storyline / plot. I have to say though, I think it was pretty stupid when they said Tails was helping Sonic all along in Episode 1 on the side lines and you just didn't see him around.
I really like how they gave Metal Sonic some backstory and gave some explanation as to what happened to him after his and Sonic's fight on Little planet. It also explains why Eggman used different robotic Sonic's (Mecha Sonic and Mecha Sonic MK2) in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 and Knuckles instead of Metal Sonic. (I really believe the order for the classic games storyline's are this - Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Knuckles Chaotix, and so forth.) I guess Sonic 4 would be before Chaotix now huh.
I don't know about you guys but I think Little Planet being encased by the Death Egg is really cool. So apparently Episode 2's storyline is what Eggman was really planning all along, this should prove to be interesting. I love how they linked the two world maps together and making it one whole thing. It shows how far off Sonic is from where he last left off in Episode 1 and makes the adventure feel more real. Can't wait for them to add the Oil Ocean / Dust Hill Zone hybrid on the map along with the other unknown zone and also learn their names.
One thing that totally bothers me is the bland level names. "White Park" is so lame. How about "Christmas Carnival?" Or something...White Park is just so...uncreative and boring...Sylvania Castle also doesn't sound very Sonic-ish to me. Sounds like a name of a place in an RPG game or fantasy game but not out of Sonic the Hedgehog. I'm looking forward to seeing updates on those last two levels we don't know as much about yet. Especially that Oil Ocean / Dust Hill Zone hybrid. I don't know why but that one really attracts me.
