I was thinking something sped up a bit, with the melody of Super Sonic mixed in with level sped up. I would not want the music clashing, persay, but perhaps sprinkle a bit of each tune in, particularly the memorable portions.

On that note, I assume there will also be a option to toggle Super Sonic Music Off, Super Sonic Music On, and Super Sonic Music Remix? That way players can either mute the sound of the transformation music, play it like the original, or enjoy the remixes (if the idea is approved).

Why not just double up the drum beat and call it a day?

Sure, that's the easy route :)

I like the idea Firion, though I'd suggest that there be a default option selected, which can be changed in the Options screen...

Allow me to clarify. Super Sonic Music Off would mean that after transformation, the level music remains unchanged (For example, Metropolis still plays Metropolis.). Super Sonic Music On would play the Super Sonic theme after transformation until you run out of rings, die, or clear the stage (Like in the original Sonic 2). Super Sonic Remix option would allow the 'Super' remixes of the main level theme with the Super Sonic them added in to blend (Metropolis will still sound like Metropolis, but with that Super Sonic flavor, maybe a riff from the SS theme occasionally).

Hope that clarifies things for you? :)

We need to remaster the original game before considering the possible extras, so let's return the discussion to the actual contributions.

I fooled around with the Aquatic Ruin music. I used an old midi file I found on google as reference. Not sure how close it is to the original music. It''s an interpretation of an interpretation.... :psyduck:

Wanted to try to get an organic sound (well using the comp of course) because I like that in a Ruin stage (If I had lute and harp I would have tried that). It's a mix with Piano, guitar, upright bass, vibraphone and woodwinds (Garritan). It's lacking a drumtrack. Tried to use knifes forks and pans, but that sounded weird. ;)

Sounds like you've got the volume of the harmony and the melody reversed - bring the melody up and the harmony back a bit. Other than that, I really like where you're heading with this one.

Also, shift the whole song up a half a key. Right now it's playing in C#, and it should be playing in D.

Yeah, That's what I've noticed, the midi I used as a refference was in a different key then the mega drive music :psyduck: Transposed it to start on D minor chord (only found the database later on, now I also notice that the anwer to first musical sentence is a tad different then in this version). My main idea is to create a version that feels suitable to an Aquatic Ruin.

So a slight revision: SonAqRev
-Tranposed to D Minor
-Main Melody is louder, more prominent.
-Aded the answer in the intro (DEDCD)
-I want to add bongo's to the main part. (Trying to find a good sounding kit) I already have a nice rhytm. Maybe someone else can add them?
-Intro, in the original you have a heartbeat like drum, don't knwpo what's a suitable sound yet.

I like to slow it down a bit, it's 130 bpm at the moment. Think that almost equals the original spead.

I've just noticed that the Aquatic Ruin melody shares some similarities with Magical Sound Shower, perhaps listening to some of its enhanced versions could help when choosing some instruments.

Maybe you're right, I never noticed the similarities, but now that I look into that, I can definitely see what you mean. These two songs share more than one would think, listening to improved versions of MSS can definitely help. So here is the enhanced version from Outrun 2. Yes, it's the same in the second youtube video you posted, but this one is a direct mp3 rip I found on some website, so it should be technically better quality :3

More on topic, I must say that I don't like The Walrus's attempt very much, to be honest. I wish I could contribute, but I suck at high quality music :\

The only critique I can move, *as non music expert*, is the prominent instrument's energy to be amiss.
Maybe adding another instrument to empower the main one will do.

Because of the 20 post edited this one. In this version:
-Bongo's and brushes.
-Main instument doubled with EQ and Echo. (it's a tad to loud now to my liking)

Is the bass clear on other speaker sets? On my bigger set it's clearly there on my small PC speakers it's not loud enough.

Bongo's In
