I posted this on SCARZ last night, then fell asleep so I'm posting it here now...:P...I might also get a better response too...

I took my hacking attempts in a new direction yesterday (see pic below)

Knuckles with Sonic's palette.*

I know some might see this as 'pointless' to put knuckles in SCD WITHOUT Climbing/Glideing support...but it never stoped Hive and a few other's doing a KTE/S1 sprite hack... and thought it would be good to do a sprite hack for SCD (to start with).

I've located the level layout, but I haven't examined the format yet.
....Nemesis, was that for the SCD Version or the PC version?

I'm also quickly gonna mention somthing 'thissideupxl' said in the same thread....

This would have helped with Shadow CD. =\

What became of Shadow CD??? :(

I'm not sure if anyone else has done much work on hacking SCD and the .MMD files and I was wondering if anyone here can offer me any help and/OR info on how to store a new/change sonic's pallette, to Knuckles's propper pallet in the .MMD files I'd be greatful. (TLP did not work...or I did somthing wrong...Knuckles's palette looks correct in TLP, when the .MMD file is opened with the S3&K palette.)

*You may also notice part of knuckles's foot is missing, due to a lack of tiles in Sonic's SCD sprite set.
This is because there are less tile's used in Sonic's sprite set then Knuckles. (I'm taking a educated guess on this...)

The 2 BMP's used were exported from SonikSprite.
IF there's a way to map Knuckles's missing foot sprite to an empty space in the .MMD files, I'd like to know....

Also, are there are there ANY know editors for SCD's .MMD files, or current programs that will do level editing of the .MMD files that DON'T use savestates for the level editing process? (SonEd is a good example of an editor using savestates.).

Thanks in advance.
(I hope I'm right with some of the things I've said! :P)

This hack seems pretty interesting. But since you're making Knuckles the main character, who's gonna be Amy's replacement in Palm Tree Panic?

Not yet....the thing is, each level in the game,(and that's EVERYTHING, layout, tiles, sprites etc) are stored in the 256kb .MDD files. And untill we see an editor that can handle the MDD files, everything would have to be done in hex workshop.
It's tricky enough to edit the sprites, since 1 sprite of animation (for example a running sprite) may be mixed in with about 20 other tiles that look the same, and so makes re-drawing them a nightmare for me.

And on top of that, some of the animation sprites only appear in one zone (example of this is the Wacky Workbench, when Sonic gets frozen OR when he's hanging from the bar's above the electric floors) so that would mean having to edit several individual .MDD files, instead of completing one, then copying the tiles over to another file, as there's NO way of telling if the tiles are layed out the same without checking first (more time consuming). :(

Sonic's pallet should be easy to edit. Just do a quick search with a hex editor (he uses the exact same pallet from S1) and replace all occurrences with knuckles pallet.

Hive's Knuckles in Sonic 1 hack is "More Than Just A Sprite Hack"™.

Sonic CD uses the same sprite mappings format as Sonic 1, I seem to remember.
